Project Life - Week 38

Welcome to Project Life 2014! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to 2 year old Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins who has put together a wonderful kit to make this challenge easier.

I am using the digital kit on shutterfly. This digital version is SUPER easy to use! See my completed pages for 2012 using the Shutterfly Cobalt kit HERE. I will hopefully be posting my 2013 pages soon.

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week) -

Saturday - Today we took Maddie to get her 3rd birthday photos taken at JCPenney's. I was very disappointed as, Tiffany, our favorite photographer was out on leave for back surgery. The girl substituting for her did a terrible job and setting up the photos. We took all of the Dora characters we created out of plywood and she didn't do anything with them. She didn't even get a single photo, that wasn't blurry, of Maddie holding up three fingers. I was very upset and can't wait for Tiffany to return. This evening we went to the Plano Balloon Festival. It was our first time and there were a million people out for the Saturday night launch. Maddie loved the kids crafts and huge slides. She even got in trouble for climbing back up and going down again without paying another ticket. When the balloons began to fill for takeoff, we found a spot on the grassy hillside with a view of the launch area. One of the vendors gave Maddie a box of Nerds, so she was perfectly content to sit and eat one nerd at a time. There was a skydiver who jumped out of the first balloon. The first balloons to take off were amazing; unfortunately, those were the only to launch. The winds picked up and they closed down the launch site. I think next year we will be attending the 6am launch.

Sunday - This morning Maddie was pouting and Juan told her she looked just like the Grumpy Old Troll. She thought that was hilarious and proceeded to mimic the troll. When we asked Maddie what she wanted to do today, her answer was the Aquarium, of course. She loves the aquarium, so we went the Children's Aquarium at Fair Park and then to the Butterfly exhibit at Texas Discovery Gardens. After our explorations, we headed to Daddy's favorite stop, Steel City Pops. They have the most amazing popsicles and we all love them! This evening was the Moss Haven Neighborhood Picnic at Moss Haven Elementary. Maddie enjoyed the petting zoo, feeding the llama, riding a pony, and getting her face painted. When they asked Maddie what she wanted painted on her face her response was, "A spider!" When the balloon artist asked her what animal she would like her balloon to be - her and Henry both asked for a Dinosaur! Then they proceeded to have a balloon fight with their dinosaurs. They were even handing out free hotdogs, hamburgers, and ice cream from the ice cream truck; where Maddie requested Bugs Bunny.

Maddie has figured out how to access the camera on our phones and take photos. We often find random photos like these below.

Monday - Maddie had fun at school today doing an apple art project and practicing her numbers. After school, Maddie was super excited to throw on her pirate costume and make me "walk the plank." At gymnastics today Maddie practiced her back roll and following Coach's directions. She has been struggling a lot with listening to Coach and tends to run all over the place, especially when they have 12-16 kids in the class.
