Project Life - Week 3

Welcome to Project Life 2018! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to 6 year old Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins.

I missed posting most of last year and am determined to do better this year!

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week) -

Monday - The weather was supposed to get bad this afternoon, so everyone closed the city early. Mom went home early, and Maddie skipped gymnastics.  Maria was here by noon and Juan came home from work at about noon as well. I still worked until 4:30pm but the traffic was nil.

Tuesday - It was supposed to ice and snow last night, but we didn't get anything.  Well I guess there was a slight bit of ice in some places - so the entire city shut down. I still made it to work, but the streets were empty.

Wednesday -  Unfortunately, I worked until 2am this morning QC'ing drawings for Medical City Plano Surgery expansion. I was not a happy camper.

Thursday - Maddie's class used shaving cream to practice their zig zags in class today. I also realized that my daughter wore her pajama top to class. I had a 5 hour inspection today at Medical City Dallas that wore me out, so we went to Momo's for dinner. Juan helped a man push his car off the highway today and I was telling him how dangerous that was and that we couldn't live without him. I said, "what would we do without Daddy?" and Maddie replied, "Yeah, who would get angry at me? And who would make us laugh?"  She's very perceptive.

Friday - Maddie's class explored strong magnets today. They are also doing a breakout lesson for all the kindergartners; they get to pick science, engineering, art or coding. I asked Maddie which she picked and she said, "you know - what does my daddy do?" and we said, architecture that wasn't an option, and she said, "oh I meant what does my mama do?" So I guess she picked engineering! Yeah. Also, on a very sad note, one of Danna's friends from high school committed suicide this week and leaves behind three small children. The service is in Colorado and Michael has a shoot this weekend, so Kaitlyn, Ryan and Alyssa are spending the night and tomorrow with us. We let them all pad down with their sleeping bags to have a slumber party. I read them a couple of books, said prayers, and sang them a song before bed. They were awful cute together!

Saturday - The kids did great last night once they finally went to sleep, at about 9pm, but apparently Maddie and Kaitlyn accidentally hit each other and woke up at 6:30am and proceeded to wake up everyone. We had cinnamon rolls delivered fresh and then the kids requested eggs as well. After getting everyone up, fed and around, we headed out to the Dallas Zoo. Alyssa has never been to the Dallas zoo! All four kids pretty much ran full throttle from exhibit to exhibit and tried to climb everything they saw. Of course, Alyssa thinks she's a big kid and mimic'd everything the older kids did. They all fed the giraffes and rode the carousel. The kids loved the kids area including the Discovery House and the tunnels. We had lunch and then went to Steel City Pops to have popsicles. They spent the afternoon blowing bubbles and playing in the back yard, building things with tinker toys, lincoln logs, and magnaforms. After dinner, we got everyone down for a movie (Despicable Me 2) and Danna picked them all up around 8pm. It was a very full day; four kiddos is definitely more exhausting than one. Maddie had a blast having so many other kiddos to play with.

Sunday - Today we went to the Dallas Children's Theater production of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show". #CATERPILLARSHOW  It was probably one of the best productions we've ever seen. It was fabulous, colorful, entertaining, and they did four of Eric Carle's books - The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Mister Seahorse, The Artist who Painted a Blue Horse, and The Very Lonely Firefly. We bought three of these books and had them signed. Maddie read The Very Hungry Caterpillar in its entirety by herself before the production began. She is becoming a phenomenal reader! I just love to hear her.

And More Layouts

Yet again, more scrapbook layouts I've created since New Years.

The Soccer layout above was made with an overlay from Want 2 Scrap. I have about a million soccer layouts to complete so an easy layout was just what I was looking for.

The Summer layout above was made with a kit from Embellish It! This is monthly club kit that allows for lots of photos. I added a few extra, just because I always have a million photos. If you sign up for this awesome club kit, let them know I sent you!

The Making the Grade layout above was created with a kit from Paper Wizard. This is another monthly club kit with awesome laser diecuts. I added twine to this layout and a few extra photos. It was just prefect for Maddie's first day of Kindergarten. Check them out, and if you sign up - let them know I sent you!

The Ski Trip layout above was a kit I found at convention from Down Memory Lane. I added the journaling blocks and the Telluride sticker.
