Project Life - Week 18

Welcome to Project Life 2018! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to 6 year old Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins.

I missed posting most of last year and am determined to do better this year!

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week) -

Wednesday - Juan is travelling today to Seattle, so Maddie and I went to dinner at her favorite spot - Blue. She loves sushi. She was practicing using chopsticks without the kids clips. She did ok, until the sushi came and she couldn't get to it fast enough. Today at school was farm day. They cleaned out and worked on the farm. Farmer Aman is amazing!

Thursday - I was at a meeting up on the tollway and the rain came in quick. We head a loud bang and quickly realized a semi had taken out the median on the tollway. It was a terrible crash, although it miraculously looked like no one else was involved. Tonight was the MHE Art Show. Maddie was so excited to take us to the show and purchase her work of art. Juan was still in the air, so just Maddie and I went. It was $25 for her framed art piece. A portion of the proceeds go to the art department. She was so proud. We've been working hard preparing our house for the BBQ this weekend. I finally got the last piece for the mantle. I'm pretty happy with it.

Saturday - It's BBQ day. We invited my entire group "Yellow Group" from my office over for a BBQ to thank them for all the hard work we've accomplished. We had about 30 people join us. I was impressed that everyone in my entire group, except Connor came and he was taking the GMAT. I think everyone had a good time. It lasted over 4 hours. Juan grilled 40 hot dogs, 25 hamburgers, and 20 corn on the cobs. There was even a little Corn-hole played.

Sunday - Glitter Girls played the Sparklecats again today, we tied 2-2. The girls seemed to have forgotten everything they learned. After soccer we joined June for her 3rd birthday. She had a bounce house and Maddie bounced for over an hour straight. It's so fun to have such great neighbors! Happy birthday June!

Tuesday - My girl is such a silly little thing! I love her personality!

Thursday - Today the Kindergarten classes sang at Roundup. Unfortunately neither Juan or I could attend, so this evening she gave us a solo performance. They sang a song about the farm, it was super cute!

Friday - Maddie and I had a dentist appointment this morning. Then I took her with me to work for a lunch meeting. She sat for 1-1/2 hours while I presented for my meeting. She was quiet as a mouse, except when she asked for more pizza and asked to go to the bathroom. Then we met Juan downtown to get Maddie's passport renewed. He told her not to smile, so now her passport photo looks like a mugshot. Directly after, we headed quickly home to change into Maddie's swimsuit. We won a pool party invitation with the Kindergarten teachers at the Auction. Maddie was allowed to bring a friend, so she brought Catherine Winchester. She had a wonderful time!

Saturday - Adam came over to jam with Maddie. He played the beat on the guitar and she followed the beat he set on the drums. She did pretty good and loved it!

Tuesday - Our Glitter Girls Spring 2018 Team! From left to right, top to bottom: Madeline Hunt, Kathryn Wimberly, Sloan Patterson, Berkley Brown, Coach Juan, Maddie, Catherine Winchester, Veronica Carrol, McKenzie Shaeffer, and Emily Wimberly.  I came home today and saw that Maddie had drug out her dinosaur kit. I was upset that it was all over the place and told her she was going lose pieces before we could complete the kit. "Mama, did you not see what was sitting on the piano?" She built both dinosaurs completely, by herself! After soccer practice, we had a picnic on our new patio furniture. It is a lovely area.

Wednesday - Today was career day at MHE, they also had a scavenger hunt that the kiddos loved!

Sunday - Vanessa was supposed to come over with Ashlyn and Jakob and dye easter eggs. We've been rescheduling since before Easter, but unfortunately Ashlyn still has lice. We didn't want to risk it, and Maddie was very disappointed; so we invited Sloan over to join her. They had fun dying and searching for the eggs.

Tuesday - Maddie's class is working on predicting weights and balances.

Thursday - Today was Kinder Field Trip Day at the Dallas Zoo. I volunteered to chaperone since I missed the Arboretum field trip earlier in the year. I was assigned to Maddie, Olivia and Hannah; the same three that were together in Juan's group at the Arboretum. They were super cute together and we had a great, but exhausting day.

Friday - Prinscella came over today with the boys to wish Maria a Happy Birthday! They loved our backyard. Also, our new patio furniture arrived today from Crate and Barrel. It is so awesome and perfect for our yard and deck!

Saturday - Another day of soccer for the Glitter Girls. We had a double header today. Our first game was against the Lone Stars, we lost 3-5 and were short girls again for this game. It was cold again this morning and the girls wore hats, gloves and sweats. Our 2nd game was this afternoon so the weather was a bit better. We played Snowflakes and lost 1-4. The girls were definitely tired. Right after the game was Jude's 5th birthday party at ASI. Maddie had a blast. It was a long and tiring day.

Sunday - Adam came over today to hand out with us and grill. Maddie thoroughly enjoyed playing badminton with him and hanging out with her brother.
