Project Life - Week 12

Welcome to Project Life 2014! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to 2 year old Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins who has put together a wonderful kit to make this challenge easier.

I am using the digital kit on shutterfly. This digital version is SUPER easy to use! See my completed pages for 2012 using the Shutterfly Cobalt kit HERE. I will hopefully be posting my 2013 pages soon.

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week) -

Wednesday - Another fun day at the Arboretum with Nana. Maddie loves the Children's Garden. Today we played with the sand pendulum and it was the first time she actually walked out onto the tree house net. The tulips were blooming (Dallas Blooms) so we got some pics with Maddie and Nana. They also have a special event of bird houses right now. Maddie had a blast exploring the life size bird houses.

Thursday - I drove the van today to take Maddie to school and there are a million lights on. Apparently we need to take it to the shop. I was surprised that Maria hadn't mentioned it, especially the engine light since we just had the engine fixed a couple of months ago! Maddie's class is preparing to sing "This little light of mine" at Sunday worship service in a couple of weeks. They were practicing today. Her class is so cute.

Friday - We headed out early early this morning to San Antonio for a little family vacation. It is the first long road trip with Maddie. I didn't even think about Maddie getting carsick. We were letting her watch a movie on my IPAD, bad mistake. She threw up about 4 times before we hit San Antonio. We went through almost half the clothes I brought for her, poor little thing. It didn't slow her down. We stopped at Inner Space Cavern, along I-35 and took the cave tour. It was a little much for Maddie, having to wait for the tour guide to describe all the cave items, but she was a pretty good trouper. It was very hard for her .not to touch any of the cave walls. We got into San Antonio in the early afternoon and immediately headed to the Riverwalk for lunch. Our hotel was on the Riverwalk and just a couple of blocks from the Alamo. After lunch we headed to the Alamo. We didn't go inside, but Maddie had fun exploring the grounds and trying out her first experience with a drinking fountain. We also saw a horse drawn carriage and from that moment on, that was all she talked about for the next three days.

Saturday - We headed off to Sea World, only when the valet went to bring our car - we had a flat. They changed it for us, but we ended up driving to Sea World on the donut. The weather was cloudy and it drizzled a bit, but that was perfect because it kept some of the crowd away and kept it a little bit cooler. Maddie loved the kiddie rides, especially the carousel. She rode the carousel three times! We watched the Shamu show and the Seal/Walrus show. I think her favorite part of the day was the bubble gun. This gun produces a ton of never ending bubbles. She loved it! After Sea World, we spent the afternoon getting our tire changed at Discount Tire and then we had a nap and a fabulous dinner for our 5th Anniversary down on the Riverwalk. Not a bad anniversary.

Sunday - We started the day at the San Antonio zoo. Maddie loves zoo's and they had a great little butterfly building in which the butterflies will land on you. They also had great magnifying glasses for the little ones to get an upclose look at the species. Maddie loved it. Of course she also loved the snake exhibit, she is quite obsessed with snakes and bugs. They also had a great hippo exhibit and of course Maddie had to ride the carousel a couple of times. I think carousels were the main attraction of our entire vacation. After the zoo, a nap, and an early dinner, we decided the first order of the day was to find Maddie a horse drawn carriage ride. She has been talking about it non-stop since we arrived. We finally found one and she was quite thrilled. We took about a 45 minute ride around the city near the Alamo. It was just the perfect end to our little mini-vacation.

Tuesday - Daddy took Maddie and her tricycle to Moss Haven Elementary to ride. There are always a ton of kids up there riding and playing.
