Starting her Young - New Layout

Thank Goodness this week is almost over. Sometime work overwhelms me completely, this is one of those weeks. I should be working, but instead I finished this layout of DD when she was just 2 months old. Daddy is determined she will be a soccer start, and has started her early.

I played along with Sketches4All - Stacey H-W's August Stash challenge.  This month the challenge is to use a messy medium on your project - paint, ink, multi medium, gesso, water colors, etc. I am really NOT a messy scrapper.  I used a hexagon template and paint to replicate the soccer ball on the background, but the paint bled through the template and is not crisp. I also tried to splatter paint, but that didn't work either and it just looks like some paint was spilled. I'm not sure how the artistic painters get that nice even splattered look. I also covered the little stars on the background at the top with pink paint circles.

For this layout I used the sketch below from Sketchbook 365 - August sketch challenge.

I used hexagons in lieu of the circles and my frame is a bit different in shape, but my layout is pretty true to the sketch.

Finally, I played along with Scrap Your Story - Challenge #22 to use arrows. I used 5 different foam arrows from American crafts.

Here are a couple of close-up photos:

Materials Used: paper - CTMH, frame - LYB; paint - Making Memories; arrows - American Crafts; fabric sticker - LYB; ticket sticker - Simple stories; corrugated heart - RAK from fellow scrapper; journaling block - Making memories; alphabet stickers - Thickers; chipboard numbers - Simple Stories; stencil - Studio Calico; chipboard corners - American Crafts.

Thanks for visiting!

Way to rock a messy challenge! And the misting thing is totally a hit or miss thing for me, it depends a lot on the brand but practicing helps. I do a lot of splattering instead of misting too because it tends to be more controlled. As for those foam arrows, another type of arrow I've seen with this week's SYS that I *need* - thanks for sharing!
