SYTYCS #10 - Happy

It's a rainy weekend here in Dallas. You would think that would give me plenty of time to scrap, but not really.  I did manage to finish this layout last night of Maddie in her Halloween costume last fall.

I am submitting this for the SYTYCS (So You Think You Can Scrap) #10 challenge over at Colorful Creations. This weeks challenge was to use the following sketch and the items below:

Recycled packaging (the packaging embellies come in)
Fussy cutting
Distressing
No more than 3 pattern papers
Stay true to sketch

I used multiple items for my recycled packaging.  I used a Prima Flowers packaging and cut out the two white plastic doilies used on the upper left and the bottom right.  I also used a different Prima Flowers packaging to punch the heart and finally I used red paper trim from a Bella BLVD packaging to punch the little mini lobster in the upper left hand corner. I fussy cut the four (4) oven mitts used in the lower right hand corner, on the lower corner of the first photo and at the end of the "Happy" title. I distressed the entire edge of the layout with ink - Brown Bag from CTMH. I only used three pattern papers (which was hard).  I assumed the paper I used to fussy cut the oven mitts counted as one pattern paper, then I used one for the background, and the third for the paper to the left of the photos and under the tag on the right.  Finally, I stayed true to the sketch with quantities of photos and sizes in the same location.

I also played along with Scrap Your Story challenge #2 - use an animal.  I used a lobster!

Finally, I played along with Memorable Seasons March - #2 challenge to use staples.  I used staples all along the bottom of the photo row and around the bottom of the large circle in the middle.

Here are a few close-ups:

Materials Used: paper - Bazzill & unknown; staples - unknown; happy title - Basic Grey; woven label - Basic Grey; circle cutter - Creative memories; bling - CTMH; ink - CTMH; punch - Emagination; stamp - 7 Gypsies; journaling block - Making Memories; tag - paper Studio; pop dots - Forever in Time; ribbon - unknown.

How you are having a fantastic weekend!
