Our Family Moments - Challenge Layout

Happy Saturday! We left DD at Nana's last night to allow DH and I to go celebrate my birthday with a movie and dinner. We were still in bed by 9pm, so I was up bright and early at 5:30am for a bit of me scrappy time! I was able to finish this layout I've been working on for days.  It is another layout for our Aruba book.

I used a sketch from Let's Scrap and played along with their Scrap Your Stash Challenge #22.
The challenge was to use 2 patterned papers, 4 different colors of cardstock (I used white, navy, blue, and yellow),10 eyelets or brads (I used 21), 10 die cuts/stickers -

either from your stash or you can cut them with your machines (I used 6 quickutz letters, 6 quickutz pendants, 2 strip stickers, 3 dimensional letter stickers, a dimensional journaling sticker, 2 circle diecuts, 2 butterfly chipboard diecuts, and a swirl) and some inking on the layout (I stamped the "moments" title and inked the edge of the entire page).

I also played along with Scraping Everyday Miracles SEM's challenge #22 FAMILY TIES...meaning to create a project about your family.
The Scrap Twist: To go along with the "tie" theme..use some ribbon on your project.  Well I did better than that, I used the blue ribbon in my banner, the seashell ribbon in my banner, and even added the little brads with twine to represent "ties".

As you can see by my journaling, I tried to showcase my feeling for my family and the gratitude to which I feel for my blessings.

The banner was a new one for me. Oh I've used banners, but never with so much layering and textures. I went outside my comfort zone with this one to play along with the ScrapFit Step Class 10 challenge: to create a layered banner with at least 2 textures. I started with some old Magic mesh from my stash, added riboon, seashells, pendants cut with my quickutz, added alphas with distressed stickles, then layered chipboard, diecuts, dimentional stickers all on top.  Oh, and I added brads at each of the pendant tops and used pop dots on every other pendant to add depth. This was my first time joining in with a ScrapFit challenge and I really had fun with it!

Finally, I used the pendant and alpha diecuts to play along with The Studio November challenge - to use a diecut.

It was more difficult to combine these challenges, but I found it made me think more about the layout before I started sticking everything down.

Materials used: paper - MME and scraps from my stash; quickutz - khaki alphabet and pendants; stickers - MME Stella Rose; layered stickers - MME Stella Rose; stickles - scattered straw; ribbon - unknown; brads - unknown; pop dots - Forever in Time; chipboard - CTMH & unknown; journaling tag - CTMH; ink - CTMH Goldrush; stamps - CTMH; bookplate - BasicGrey; brad ties - unknown.

I hope you like this LO and I hope you are inspired to join in with the challenges above!  Have a beautiful weekend!

Jessica

I simply adore this layout, what a fabulous vacation you all must have had. Love the story of your date night, I can still remember those times when the kids were little, and all I really wanted to do was sleep :) It goes quickly, don't forget that.
