Project Life - Week 27

Welcome to Project Life 2014! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to 2 year old Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins who has put together a wonderful kit to make this challenge easier.

I am using the digital kit on shutterfly. This digital version is SUPER easy to use! See my completed pages for 2012 using the Shutterfly Cobalt kit HERE. I will hopefully be posting my 2013 pages soon.

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week) -

Thursday - We got Sprinkles cupcakes today and I gave Maddie one of the mini cupcakes. She LOVED it and wanted another.

Friday - Today was the 4th of July Lake Highlands parade. The school sent out an email requesting kids to be a part of the parade and walk as part of the Lake Highlands Early Childhood PTA. We had no idea what we were doing, but went to participate. There were lots of little ones dressed to the nines for the 4th of July and riding bicycles and tricycles and handing out candy. I didn't think about the fact that Maddie has never attended a parade and probably would have enjoyed watching and catching the candy more. All three kiddos were more interested in grabbing the candy that was dropped in the street than waving at the crowds. After the parade there was an entire carnival set up with face painters, a petting zoo, all sorts of games, a bounce house, pony rides, and a ton more. The kids loved their face paintings and the games. Inside the rec center was a bounce house and slide. All three kiddos loved the slide, but it started getting really rough with a million older kids and no adult supervision, so we had to drag the kids away. They all got snow cones and then had a train ride before heading over to the playground. I was amazed that Maddie climbed the rock wall all the way to the top and then over after watching Jakob do it! She is such a monkey. After all the festivities, we returned to the house where Juan grilled us some yummy BBQ and the kids played in Maddie's pool. It was a fun day. This evening we decided to go on the roof and see if we could see the fireworks from there - unfortunately we really couldn't, only one or two high ones, but it was a good try.

Saturday - We headed out to the Fort Worth Water Gardens today. Maddie loved hopping from block to block down into the fountain. She wasn't scared at all and wanted to do it "by herself". Then we headed to the Dallas Zoo. Maddie was excited to crawl through the tunnels, feed the fish, feed the goats, and even pet a box turtle. What she was opposed to was feeding the birds. She still wanted nothing to do with it, afraid they would once again "bite" her. This evening we both tomatoes and cucumbers in our garden ready to be picked!

Sunday - Today we went to Janet and Matt's house to meet new baby Chloe. She is so tiny and quite adorable. Janet had invited us to swim and invited Danna and her kiddos as well. There was a lot of fun happening in the pool. Maddie did not want to get in and then just wanted to hang on the wall, even with her life jacket on. I guess the swimming lessons this year didn't really help much. After swimming, the kiddos all got big pieces of watermelon, perfect for a hot summer's day.

Monday - Maddie has discovered suckers. She is obsessed with them and says "I can't bite it though, right?" She got one at the bank when we opened her savings account.
