Today I got messy. I am NOT a messy scapper, so it took me all day. I started out with paste and gellatos, but that didn't work at all. So then I misted the paste, added some fiber and my page was begun. I'm not super thrilled with it, but it was definitely different for me. This layout is of Maddie, Nana, and her cousins at the Arboretum. It is LOAD (Lay Out A Day) #12 and 13 over at Let's Scrap.
I played along with Sketches4All Design Team Mixed media challenge. The challenge is to use several mediums. I used paper, mist, paste, paint, bling, grungeboard, fiber, chipboard, and ink. I think that is the most mediums I have ever used on a single layout! Definitely outside my comfort zone.
For the left side, I used the sketch #25 from Scrap Africa. Here is the sketch:
There are a ton of challenges right now to scrap your one little word for 2014, so I thought I would play along. My word is family and my intent for 2014 is to focus on my family and let the other little things fade away. Not just my immediate family, but our extended family and those who may not be blood, but are truly part of our journey. I played along with Berry71Bleu - jan one little word challenge:
I also played along with S.W.A.T. Drill #23 - to scrap your one little word for 2014.
I played along with My Scraps & More - New Years Challenge. The challenge is one word that you would like to really focus on that would make this a better year than it was last year. Then create a LO using that word. Your LO does not have to be about what you want that word to truly mean to you in the new year, though it can be. Just use the word you come up with in anyway on a LO. Again, I used the word Family and my intent is that it encompasses all those in our lives who make life special and to let everything else fade into the background.
For the right side, I played along with Let's Scrap Design Team Challenge #179. The challenge is to use a Let's Scrap Sketch and You must use at least 3 colors or 3 elements that you see from the photo to your layout : the vines, architectural arch, fountain, gates, water, shaped bushes, creepers, overgrown weeds (?!) etc. I used the right hand side of the Let's Scrap sketch 1-23-13. Here is the photo inspiration. I was inspired by the color green and cream, the arches (I used a tree arch photo, the arch in the title "We love pumpkin season" and even the rounding of the Oct jounaling block, the bushes which I interpreted as circles and cut my photos in the shape of, the square fountain base which I used frames around my numbers 1 & 3, leaves to replicate the vines, and the shape of the fountain itself which I replicated with my stencil and paste on the background.
I also played along with My Scraps & More - Tuesday Trigger 1-7-14, to try something new on your layout. I tried to use gelatos....and failed miserably. In fact, I almost trashed the entire page, but instead decided to add mist and fiber, paint and bling. I've never misted paste before and I used a metallic mist from Maya Roads that I love the effect.
Materials used: paper - MME; fiber - Mon Ami Gabby; paint - Making Memories; ink - CTMH; mist - Maya Road and Mister Huey's; stickers - EP; arrow - unknown; bling - Mon Ami Gabby; paste - Studio 490; rub-ons - DaisyD's; 3D stickers - Jolee's; letter stickers - EP; chipboard - EP; stencil - Heidi Swapp; leaves - Jolee's; grungeboard- Tim Holtz.
Thanks for visiting!
