Hello my scrappy friends! I can't believe Halloween is days away and there is only 8 more Saturday's until Christmas.....good grief where did the year go? We spent the weekend looking for a reliable used vehicle and found one (at least I hope it's reliable). I didn't find too much scrappy time, but I did finish this double page layout last night after the kiddo and hubby went to bed.
I have been giving Maddie "eskimo kisses" since she was born and she has started "kissing" me back by rubbing noses. Daddy has been giving Maddie "butterfly kisses" for about the same amount of time. He blinks and lets his lashes hit hers. She now does it back to him and it is very cute to see.
For the left side of the layout I used sketch #104 from Inspired Blueprints. I mirrored the sketch and used my single photo at the top instead of the bottom.
I also played along with Scrap Around the World #6 Challenge. The challenge was to get inspiration from the mood board below. I tried to use vintage colors and feel with whites, creams, and a hint of pink. I also used tried to incorporate the modern aspect with flag banners and the hexagon title. I included flowers to mimic the botannical flowers and added textured bricks to mimic the checked tile.
I also played along with the Boy Meets Girl - Oct. 15th challenge "about a girl". The challenge was to use texture. I used layered papers, distressed edges, modeling paste with chalk, chipboard, paper banners on twine and 3-D flowers. Lots of textures here and it is all "about a girl", myself and little sweet pea!
Finally, I played along with Use Your Words - Final word challenge - LOVE. I am sad to see this is the last challenge they will be posting, so I wanted to play along. I stamped the word LOVE in black on the upper right hand side of the page.
For the right side of my layout I used a sketch from Prima for the October BAP: I used Prima for everything except a couple of CTMH stamps, an unknown journaling block from my stash and Tim Holtz distressing ink. The papers, chipboard, butterflies, and stickers came from the Prima Lyric Collection.
I also played along with Colorful Creations - Creative Monthly challenge for October. The challenge is to mat a photo at least two times. I matted the photo of Daddy and Maddie three times, once with solid white with distressed ink, and twice more with patterned papers that were distressed and then inked.
Here are a couple of close-ups:
Materials used - paper - Prima; chipboard - Prima; letter stickers - Prima; butterflies - Prima; ink - Tim Holtz and CTMH; stamps - CTMH; brads - Prima; banner - Basic Grey; flowers - Prima;stickers - Prima.
Thanks for visiting!
Happy Sunday! We've had a busy weekend around here. We took Maddie to the Aquarium yesterday and on a horse drawn carriage ride. Today we got her pictures taken in her Halloween costume - adorable, and we have our neighborhood block party this evening - Whew. I did manage to squeeze in a bit of scrapping after the little one went to sleep last night. This is Maddie's 1st haircut, if you can call it that. We only had her bangs cut, LOL! She was 18 months and did really good for her first time. As you can see in the photos, she was definitely a bit timid and anxious.
For this layout I played along with the Memory Nest - Make it Monday challenge - to use the Ombre. You choose the layout and the color. There was also a twist: use watercolors - sprays or mists - stencils - stamping. I used Ombre paper on both sides of my layout, on the left it is the burnt red background and goes from dark at the top to light at the bottom. I used a similar sheet in blue on the right hand side, but cut it in strips and then altered the strips so some faded light to dark and some faded dark to light. I used Lemon meallic mist from Maya Roads and stamps from CTMH. The stamps are the arrows on the right hand side and the parenthesis on the left.
Here is the left side:
For the left side, I used this sketch from the Pagemaps - Greatest View sketch contest. Here is the sketch:
This is the right side:
For the right side I used this sketch from Creative Scrappers #252.
Here are a couple of close-up photos:
Material Used: I used almost all MME Cut & Paste product for this layout. I wanted to play with the new collection that I won a few weeks ago. The only product that was not MME was the mist - Maya Road; stamps - CTMH; ink - CTMH; haircut stickers - Jolee's; rickrack - Wrights; number stickers - EKSuccess; and the holder for the locket of hair - Creative Memories.
Thanks so much for visiting!
Anyone else ready for the weekend? I soooo am! I got to play with my scrappy toys last night and finished this layout of Maddie at 8 months. She looks like such a little boy in those overalls, but they were just too cute.
For the left side, I used the October - Once Upon A Sketch and the theme was Journey. I created this layout of Maddie crawling, her first journey in life, not far but significant:
I also played along with Punky Scraps #68 challenge to use stamps. I used the Close to my Heart "Reel Life Everyday Life" and stamped two reels and cut them out on the cricut.
For the right side, I used the October sketch from Life Paper Scrapbook.
I played along with Sketches4All - Guest Designer challenge for October. The challenge is to use the photo below as inspiration. My inspiration was the farm. I thought Maddie's photos in her Farmer overalls was perfect.
Here are a couple of closeup photos:
Materials used: paper - jillibean soup, pebbles inc., bazzill and unknown; stamps - CTMH; ink - CTMH; stickers - CTMH; brads - SEI; thickers - American Crafts; punch - Martha Stewart; cricut - Art Philosophy; letter stickers - Basic Grey; rub-ons - making memories.
Thanks for visiting! I hope you have a wonderful and crafty weekend!
We took Maddie to Dinosaur Valley in early June. She loves dinosaurs and we thought it would be great. She really wasn't too interested in the dinosaur tracks, but LOVED the river. It was a bit chilly, but she didn't care. There were lots of squeals and laughter.
I used Pamela's World of Scrap - Sketch #242, which was perfect as I had soooo many pictures that I wanted to include. Here is the sketch:
I also played along with the Twinery - challenge #12. I used twine to create the circles as well as brads, stickers and paper circles as embellishments.
Since I was playing with twine, I figured I add a little stitching to play along with The Paper Girls Challenge #41 - Sew it On! I stitched the edge of the journaling block to look like a wire binder on a paper pad.
I am also linking up with the Memory Nest - Crafty Creations #3.
Finally, I played along with Colorful Creations - Recipe Fun for October. The recipe is to use paper of your choice, 2 x embellishments i.e. bling, glitter; and 1 x journal block i.e. sticker sheet or die cut. I used different MME pattern papers, brads, stickers, and twine for my embellishments, and a die-cut journaling block.
Here are a couple of close-ups:
Materials Used: paper - MME and unknown; letter stickers - thickers; stickers - MME; brads - MME; ink - CTMH; twine - unknown; journaling block - MME.
Thank you for visiting! I really appreciate every comment that is left.
Another weekend here and gone. We had a great time today with my mom, sister, and my sister's kids at the Arboretum and the new Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden. I finished another layout this after to share. This is of Maddie in her bath at 93 days old.
I used the sketch from Colorful Creations - Member Spotlight.
I also played along with SWAT - Basic Training to use a mask. I used a mini chicken wire stencil with Maya Road spray and Making Memories paint.
The colors don't look great as I had to use a flash this evening, but the lace does stand out better in person.
Close-ups:
Materials used: paper - MME, Simple Stories, and unknown; stickers - EKSuccess; ribbon - unknown; lace - unknown; stencil - The Crafters Workshop; paint - Making Memories; mist - Maya Road; journaling spot - unknown.
Thanks so much for visiting and for all the lovely comments! I appreciate them all.
We had a wonderful day at the Pumpkin Patch! Maddie even demanded to take her "baby pumpkin" to bed this evening, LOL. It took a lot to convince her it was NOT edible, although there are definitely a lot of bit marks in it. I want to share a layout I completed of Maddie licking Daddy! She is such a funny little thing. We are not even sure where or when she learned to lick, but one night she just hopped up on the couch with Daddy and started licking his face. Of course his reaction was priceless which only encouraged her to lick him more. These two make me so happy.
I used another kit from Embellish It for this layout. I also played along with the SWAT Drill Team #17 - to use fussy cutting. I fussy cut the polaroids and the thought bubbles. I even fussy cut border strips and the month.
I also played along with Colorful Creations - E+2 Challenge for October. This challenge is to scraplift 2 embellishments from the layout below:
I scraplifted fussy cutting and pre-made stickers. I also used layering on multiple pattern papers.
Here are a couple of close ups:
Materials Used: paper - Simple Stories; stickers - Simple Stories; washi tape - unknown; letter stickers - Thickers and EP; pop dots - Forever in Time; ink - CTMH.
Thanks for visiting, and a special thanks to everyone who leaves such sweet comments. I really appreciate them!
