Hi all! It's been cool this week, at least cool for Texas in July. We cleaned out the garage a bit this morning and gave away a car load full of things to Goodwill. Feels good to purge, although there is still a ton more to go through....isn't that the way it always goes?
I finished a layout this morning of Maddie and her little cousins on her first Halloween in 2011. Maddie was a sweet pea, Jakob was a monster, and Ashlyn was an owl. How cute were they?
For this layout I played along with Colorful Creations - Creative Monthly Challenge for July. This challenge was to be LOUD!!!!! Use BRIGHT colors... and mix them up!! Don't be afraid to mix and match patterns, colors, and embellies. The colors seem muted in the photo, but are actually very bright, as are the colorful costumes in the photos. I used a bunch of different strips of paper from Cosmo Cricket and then added a bunch of flower cutouts and chipboard from an old Basic Grey card kit. This is definitely outside my comfort zone.
I also played along with Scrap Your Story Challenge #19 - childhood. The challenge was to scrap about the theme "childhood". What better childhood memory than Halloween?
For the left side of the layout I used a sketch from Sketch N Scrap #36:
For the right side of the layout, I used a sketch from Let's Get Sketchy - Week #1. I mirrored the sketch, rotated the photos, and then added a third photo along with the jounaling pocket.
Here are a couple of closeup photos:
Materials used: Paper - Cosmo Cricket; stitching - Bazzill In Stitches & DMC floss; chipboard - Basic Grey; flowers - Basic Grey; popdots - Forever in Time; journaling pocket - pebbles; fabric sticker - Basic Grey.
Thanks for visiting - off to nap.
