Happy National Scrapbooking Day! I am starting the day of right, by scrapping. I've made it to another round in the "So You Think You Can Scrap" challenge over at Colorful Creations. This is my submission for week 18, photos of Maddie this Easter.
The requirements were to use the following sketch and create a layout WITHOUT using a trimmer, scissors, or knives on any of your papers. You can use a trimmer to crop your photos ONLY. I tore all my paper and used the ribbon to hide the horizontal tear lines between the papers. For the four purple squares I used the following technique to tear my squares straight - score the paper, fold along the score line, lick the edge of the fold, reverse the fold and lick along the edge of the fold again, then separate. The accent strips are washi tape that was torn and the journaling tag is from a journaling notepad. No trimmer, scissors or knives were used on any of the papers.
Also, Your layout must have:
A bird - I used a quickutz bird adjacent to the title
Staples - I used two staples on the left side of the ribbon and three staples on the right side of the ribbon
At least 4 different pattern papers - I used Making memories purple background paper, Creative Memories purple squares on the right, the green paper at the bottom is from DCWV paper stack, and the pink swirl is from the Paper Studio.
Embossing (wet or dry) - The green paper is actually embossed, but I also used a Spell Binders die to cut out the white circle beneath the title and then dry embossed the edge to raise it. It is a bit hard to see in the photo.
I am also playing along with a some other challenges, some specifically for NSD:
I am introducing my little Maddie and included her name on the layout to play along with the new challenge site "About A Girl" and their May 1st challenge. This challenge was easy, just introduce your "girl" and create a layout with her name somewhere on the layout.
I am also playing along with Really Reasonable Ribbon's challenge #71 - Sparkle, Bling and Ribbon. I have sparkle on my title and the diamond brads in the flower centers, the circle around the title background is bling, and I have ribbon across the entire layout horizontally.
This month's Bird is the Word challenge is to use the word "Moment" on a layout; hence my title "Moments with Maddie".
Finally, I am playing along with the latest Scrap Our Stash Challenge Create a LAYOUT using 3 or more patterned
papers! You MUST use
papers from
3 or more different collections.
AND....
you will
need to dig further into your stash and pull out some of thoseRUBONS
you have been neglecting to use. I used Making memories purple background paper, Creative Memories purple squares on the right, the green paper at the bottom is from DCWV paper stack, and the pink swirl is from the Paper Studio. I also added the "Adore you" rub-on in the upper right hand corner.
Here are a couple of close-up photos:
Materials Used: paper - the Paper Studio, Creative Memories, Making Memories, DCWV; die-cut - Quickutz and Spell Binders; bling - Heidi Swapp; ribbon - unknown; staples - unknown; journaling block - Making Memories; flowers - unknown; brads - MME; rub-on - Making Memories; washi tape - unknown; thickers - Dear Lizzy and American Crafts; letter stickers - Basic Grey.
Thanks for visiting!
