08.30.10 A Symbol of Dallas

This red pegasus has been a symbol of Dallas for decades.  For fifty years this Pegasus sat atop a Mobile gas station in Casa Linda in east Dallas where it was lighted and rotated. Before that, it was on display in the 1939 Worlds fair in New York. The Original larger Dallas Pegasus on top of the Magnolia Building was erected for the 1934 American Petroleum Institute Convention. Pegasus was originally the logo for the Sconoy – Vacuum company of which Mobil Oil was a part.
