Welcome to Project Life 2015! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to 3 year old Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins.
I am using a digital kit on Shutterfly. This digital version is SUPER easy to use! See my completed pages for 2012 using the Shutterfly - Project Life Turquoise Edition HERE and my 2013 album using the Shutterfly - Project Life Childhood - Mayfield Edition HERE I will hopefully be posting my 2014 pages soon.
And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week) -
Thursday - Shannon arrived early this morning from Wichita. She was planning to arrive last night but hit tornadoes driving through Oklahoma and stopped at a hotel. She leaves early tomorrow for her cruise, so we spent the day catching up and having yummy drinks at Benihana's for lunch. We drove by Moss Haven elementary and noticed they moved the B G there. We had to stop and pose as the I for BIG Dallas.
Thursday - I flew to Nashville last night for a meeting with HCA to discuss their desire for HCA specifications. We were in meetings all day and flew back late this evening. We have had so much rain this past month that all of the lakes are overflowing. We have been in a drought the past five years, so we definitely needed the water, but it appears we are not on the other end of the spectrum.
Friday - Maddie wanted to practice tracing her letters today. She is getting really good at the letters in her name, but still needs a lot of practice on the other letters.
Thanks for visiting!

Thursday - Maddie and Daddy made lemonade today. Maddie loves lemonade and has been begging to make it. Maddie loves squeezing the lemons.
Conversation between Mommy and Maddie:
Mommy: Is that your Dora and her horsie?
Maddie: Mama, do you remember when we gave this away?
Mommy: We didn't give it away, it's right there.
Maddie: Well, we gave the barn thing away, remember?
Mommy: Oh, the horse barn?
Maddie: mmmmmhhhhhhmmmmm, but we looked for these, right?
Mommy: Yes, and we couldn't find them. They were hidden in all your other toys.
Maddie: Oh yeah, but Mommy can we get a 6 year old barn?
Mommy: What's a six year old barn?
Maddie: Well, you know, one that 6 year olds can play with? Or 10 or 8 or 5 year olds?
I put away all of Maddie's size 4 clothes and bought her a bunch of size 5 summer clothes. The first day she put on a new size 5 shirt she came in and said, "Mommy, this shirt is too tight." Good grief, looks like she jumped straight to a size six. She is amazingly tall. She wears size 10 shoes. That is why she has 6 years old on the brain - her new size 6 clothes.
Saturday - We started the day off at the Dallas Zoo. They have a new exhibit, Giants of the Jurassic. They have life sized dinosaurs throughout the zoo and many of them are movable. They even have a dig site area set up for the little ones to uncover bones. We watched a bird show and let Maddie play in the river in the kids area. We also watched the cheetah show. Maddie wanted to see the snakes and the bugs. We never it made to it the big animal side of the zoo. This afternoon I was scrapbooking and Maddie asked if she could scrapbook too. I let her pick some papers, photos and stickers and she went to town. I didn't help her a bit. She worked on her page for about 2 hours! It was amazing. She did a great job.
Sunday - For Mother's Day this year, we asked Nana to get her photos taken with the kiddos. We met at JCPenney's and Tiffany got a few great shots of them all together. We got Mom a large canvas print of them all together and I got a 10x10 collage for Maddie's room. This evening Maddie and I worked on finishing her teacher appreciation gifts. I think they turned out great. Maddie made drawings for each of her teachers and then signed them with her name. I asked her what she was thankful for and then I wrote that on the sheet as well. I made little tag toppers that say "Thank you for being such a wonderful TEAcher" and "Thank you for quenching my thirst for knowledge." We filled the drinking cups with tea and lemonade.
Monday - Maddie has been learning about her community in Mrs. Miriam's class. They made a fireman today. I just love how she writes her name. She knows how to spell it now and can write every letter, but tends to write it backwards. Maddie has also been learning about Spring and planting in Mrs. Miriam's class. They brought home their bean "sprouts" today. Maddie's have all sprouted and are ready to be planted. She was very excited about that.
Tuesday - Maria brought Maddie a microscope last night. She's been playing with it a lot and checking out all of the bugs. This morning I was taping up a box to mail to Jaime and Maddie was playing with her new talking microscope. She said, "Mama, can you be quiet for me so I can relax and study?" I think she must have been hearing that from Juan lately. Today is Cinco de Mayo and Maddie made a maraca with beans inside.

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week) -
Thursday - Our last day in Wimberley. We started off with another wonderful breakfast and then headed out for home. We decided to head up 35 and stopped at the Texas Hill Country Olive Company. They make their own olive oils. We got to taste a ton of delicious oils including some fabulous flavored ones. Juan ended up buying a jalepeno and a pineapple oil, while I selected a lemon and a couple of regular oils. We should not have returned along 35N. It was a traffic nightmare and Juan never does well with traffic. It ended up being a very stressful 5 hours.
Saturday - Baby Chloe turned one this weekend and we joined her to celebrate at Harrington Park in Plano. Maddie had fun playing on the playground and playing with the other kids. Juan spun Maddie, Kaitlyn, and Ryan on the tire swing. They were having a ball and Juan was spinning them as fast as possible. Maddie got off and immediately fell head first into the playground pole. When we finally called the kids in for cake and they stopped spinning, Ryan lost his lunch. Danna and I had just been commenting on the fact that one of them was going to get sick. Juan helped clean Ryan up and then we watched Chloe dig into her cake.
Monday - We bought a new shelf from Pottery Barn for my scrapbook room. It is perfect store Maddie's games, playdough, trains, legos, etc. It is much more organized and gives her a place to put stuff back. I think it is going to work great.
Tuesday - Maddie made a catepillar for the end of their "buggy" lesson.
Tuesday - Today was Maddie's first dental appointment. She was very excited to sit in the big chair. She was absolutely amazing. Ms. Sandra explained every tool to her an let her try them out. Maddie was enthralled and loved using the water pick, air pick, mirror, and even the spinning brush. They started with X-rays and Maddie followed directions to a T. Then she opened her mouth as wide as possible and let Ms. Sandra count her teeth (20), polish her teeth, and even let her give her a fluoride treatment. Then Dr. Janelle Bicknell came in and looked at her xrays and counted her teeth again. Maddie wasn't scared once and did everything they asked her to immediately. Ms. Sandra then told her she could get five treasures from the treasure chest. She ended up with about 10, but Ms. Sandra said that was fine since she was so fabulous! Dr. Janelle said Maddie had perfect spacing between her baby teeth and the xrays showed that her big girl teeth are already formed. She even has one tooth in the front on the bottom that is a bit loose. She did say her top right front tooth is crooked and not to freak out when it comes in. She said it is possible her mouth with push it into place correctly. She also said that her top teeth come clear over her bottom teeth and cover them completely. She said that may change completely with her adult teeth, but she may need some sort of orthodonics if it doesn't. The best news was that she did so fabulous that Dr. Janelle said she would probably never need to go to a pediatric dentist. Maddie even asked, "when will it be my turn again" when I was getting my teeth cleaned. She also kept saying, "I want to go see Tooth Brain." We didn't know what she was talking about. I assumed it was something in the treasure chest. Once we left she was asking about Dr. Tooth Brain, saying how much she loved her. I finally realized she was talking about Dr. Bicknell! I have no idea why she was calling her Tooth Brain. We celebrated the afternoon by going to see the "Monkey Kingdom" movie with Daddy.
Wednesday - Maddie's art project.
