Welcome to Project Life 2014! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to 2 year old Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins who has put together a wonderful kit to make this challenge easier.
I am using the digital kit on shutterfly. This digital version is SUPER easy to use! See my completed pages for 2012 using the Shutterfly Cobalt kit HERE. I will hopefully be posting my 2013 pages soon.
And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week) -
Friday - Today was the end of week 1 swimming lessons. Daddy came to take my place today in the class. Maddie is doing pretty well, but doesn't seem to have really improved any. She still doesn't like going under the water - it is a fight for that portion of the class. She wants to climb in and out of the pool and run around. She does go up and down the ladder by herself and can crawl along the wall like no buddies business. She can float on her back, almost alone - but has no interest in going down the slide at the end of class like some of the other kids. It's ok, but I think I prefer the local neighborhood class.
Sunday - Today was the World Cup semi-finals between Mexico and Germany. Daddy was all excited to watch and loaded up with wings from Wing Stop. Germany ended up beating Mexico, to Juan's dismay. Germany went on to play Argentina in the final and won - again to Juan's dismay.

Saturday - Today we took Jakob and Maddie to the Kids Aquarium at Fair Park. It is smaller than the downtown aquarium, but fun for little ones. We were too late to feed the stingrays, which Jakob was not happy about; but the two of them liked the eels, the pretend octopus, and all the fish. Then we headed over to the Butterfly Gardens at Texas Discovery Gardens. I dropped my camera in the bathroom and broke my lens. I was very upset. After the butterflies and touring the gardens briefly, we took the kids to a late lunch at Bennihana's. Maddie loves sushi and eating with chopsticks. Even Jakob tried a couple of new things, although didn't eat near as much as Maddie did.

Tuesday - This is Maddie's second week of swimming lessons. Daddy joined her for class today so I could take photos. Maddie can easily float on her back, blow bubbles and kick, but she fights us on most of it. I think the pool is just too large and there is too much going on for her to focus. She has become obsessed with NOT going under water. I am wondering if we are setting her back in lieu of helping her learn by forcing it. I have decided to cajole her/bribe her in lieu of forcing her. We'll see how that goes. She does still seem to be comfortable in the water for the most part.
