Welcome to Project Life 2014! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to 2 year old Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins who has put together a wonderful kit to make this challenge easier.
I am using the digital kit on shutterfly. This digital version is SUPER easy to use! See my completed pages for 2012 using the Shutterfly Cobalt kit HERE. I will hopefully be posting my 2013 pages soon.
And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week) -
Wednesday - We went with Nana, Vanessa, and the kiddos to the Arboretum. They were having a Bird Nest exhibit. In the first photo, the kids were acting like birds in eggs that were hatching. They had to play in the water, the sand, and do a lot of running together!
Thursday - Today we went with Nana, Vanessa, and the kiddos to the Dallas Zoo. The kids all had fun feeding the giraffes, climbing all over the statues, and of course the kids area. They fed the fish, the goats, and then the lorakeets. After feeding the lorakeets, they all wanted to feed them one more time. The second time in, one of the lorakeets tried to take her cup away and nipped her finger. She freaked out a bit and was definitely done with the birds. Six months later, she still refuses to feed birds of any sort.
Saturday - Juan, Maddie and I drove to Broken Arrow, OK today for Kayla's 3rd birthday party. There were water guns, bubbles and a pool. The three girls had a blast, so did the Daddies. Angie's parents were there as well. After cake and presents and a nap at our hotel, we took Maddie and Kayla to the splash park. I love seeing the girls together and watching them play so well. It was a very fun and exhausting day!
Sunday - We left Oklahoma very early and drove home in the rain. We realized when we got home that we had locked ourselves out of the house. Juan did the fence jump to break us into our own home.
Monday - Today began week 1 of Maddie's swimming lessons at the Lake Highlands North pool. We chose this pool as the neighborhood lessons we used last year changed their policy and parents were no longer allowed to stay and watch. With multiple children in the lessons - I was not comfortable with leaving her at 2 years. These lessons are still Mommy and Me. She did ok the first day, comfortable with being in the water, but ALL of the other kids cried non-stop, causing Maddie concern. This might not have been the best idea. I lured her into continuing her lesson with the promise of time at the splash park after the class.
Tuesday - A giant cucumber from our garden. Maddie loves cucumbers and loves going to the garden to pick cucumbers, tomatoes, and a lone strawberry every once in awhile.

Friday - We took Maddie to Chucky Cheese's for the first time. Juan was anti the entire experience and didn't want her to eat the pizza or dance with the Mouse. She played a few games, and enjoyed getting tickets; but I was surprised that she didn't want to "ride" any of the little rides. She ALWAYS wants to ride the train at Toys R Us.
