Welcome to Project Life 2014! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to 2 year old Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins who has put together a wonderful kit to make this challenge easier.
I am using the digital kit on shutterfly. This digital version is SUPER easy to use! See my completed pages for 2012 using the Shutterfly Cobalt kit HERE. I will hopefully be posting my 2013 pages soon.
And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week) -
Wednesday - Today was Maddie's 3 year well baby exam with Dr. Hubbard. We've been playing a lot of Doctor lately, so Maddie was actually excited to get measured and weighed. The nurses were amazed as usually kids this age are very against everything doctor related and it is a complete fight. Maddie just followed directions and wanted to check everything out. She didn't get any shots today, but did get flu mist via her nose. She wasn't thrilled with that, but didn't make too big of a deal about it. She weights 39 lbs 6 oz, she is 3'-3.25" tall, and her BMI is 17.97. She is in the 95% for weight, the 90th % for length and 94% for head size. Dr. Hubbard said she was very bright and adorable, but it was time to potty train her. She said no more diapers and no pull ups to get the thick cotton pants so she knows when she is wet. She said that she hated pull ups and doesn't believe they help at all. What I didn't know at the time was they don't make those cotton pants in a size 5T!
Friday - Angie got strep throat three days before Maddie's 3rd birthday party and they didn't get to attend. Angie and Kayla arrived today to spend the weekend and celebrate Maddie's birthday. They brought her a fairy outfit with wings, an apron to cook with, and a book, Rosie Revere the Engineer.
Saturday - Angie bought the girls matching outfits and we headed off today to the pumpkin patch at the Arboretum. The girls had a blast checking out all the pumpkins, and of course we had to take them to the Children's Adventure Garden. Angie bought skittles and used them as rewards when the girls went potty in big girl potty. Maddie managed to stay dry all day! We also let the girls pick out their own pumpkins to take home to paint and then we painted them this afternoon. They both wanted white pumpkins - Kayla then proceeded to paint hers orange. They played great all day together and didn't really fight at all, except over Maddie's sunglasses.
Sunday - The girls were both excited to head out to the Dallas Zoo today. They fed the giraffe, saw a ton of animals and generally chased each other all across the zoo. They climbed on every statue they came across and spent forever at the kids area feeding the fish and the goats. We ended the trip with a ride on the carousel, of course. It was such an enjoyable day to watch those two together. It really makes me wish Maddie had a brother or sister her age.
