Project Life - Week 38

Welcome to Project Life 2013! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to 1 year old Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins who has put together a wonderful kit to make this challenge easier.

I am using the digital kit on shutterfly (hopefully Olive once it has been released), find more info at http://www.beckyhiggins.com/blog. This digital version uses Shutterfly and is SUPER easy to use! See my completed pages for 2012 using the Shutterfly Cobalt kit HERE.

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week):

Tuesday - We took Maddie to Benihana's for her birthday dinner. Unfortunately we had to wait almost 30 minutes before we got to the table and then it is never quick when they are taking your order. Maddie did not really have the patience to let us finish our dinner, although the little girls making faces at her from the next table over helped quite a bit. She was not even happy when they brought her birthday dessert, although she did like the ice cream.

Wednesday - Maddie had her 2 year Well Baby doctor visit today with Dr. Hubbard. She definitely remembered being here before and was pretty upset the entire visit. She weighs 31 lbs 14.2 oz and is in the 95th percentile. She is 37" long and is off the chart > 95th percentile for height. Here head is 19-1/2" and in the 90th percentile. She is still a very big baby. Dr. Hubbard said she is very verbal and appears to be doing wonderful. She told us to get her to bed earlier as we have recently been pushing 9pm before she finally falls asleep. She also told us that this will be a very bad year for colds. Maddie has be fighting a cold since late Saturday and I'm sure it's a result of her first week at school. Dr. Hubbard said she needs to be around that now so that she builds up a resistance before she starts Kindergarten. She said we need to continue introducing her to potty training, but not to push her if she is resistant. Maddie received her first Flu Mist in the nostrils and her second Hepatitis A shot. She screamed quite vocally when she received her shot, but then as soon as we told her she was done and we were leaving she was fine. She didn't even have a reaction. She is such a tough little baby.

Thursday - Maddie at school today, a new and creative use for a storage basket. She is still saying that she likes school, the slide, and I think lunch/snack time. She is eating her entire lunch everyday and all seems to be going fabulous! Maria took Maddie to school and picked her up on both Tuesday/Thursday of this week. We are playing car mix up a lot and trying to find a solution to that quickly.

Saturday - It was the first BEAUTIFUL day of fall in Dallas. The temperature was in the 80's and we headed off to the Fort Worth Zoo, along with everyone else in Dallas. We stopped on the way at Babies R Us to purchase a wagon, too bad we didn't think about the fact that it would need to be put together. While at Babies R Us, Maddie found the new "Rody" horses. These are similar to the old Hippity Hops but in the shape of a horse and more colorful. Maddie had a ball hopping on the floor models. They are apparently selling out every time they get a shipment in, so we decided to buy her the floor model in green. Then it was off to the zoo. Maddie was very excited to see all the animals. Maddie liked the Orangutans and could even say the word. She loved the Reptile exhibit and even pet a snake. She was enthralled by the Crocodile and the lizards, especially the huge Komodo Dragon which she can also say. She was very excited to pet the snake and was very gentle. I foresee a pet reptile in our future. She also had fun feeding the Parakeets. She wasn't scared at all. She got to see lions, tigers and even a bear. There was even a new baby elephant to see, Bowie was born August 5th and is only about six weeks old. They actually have two baby elephants at the zoo, but only Bowie was out at the time we were there. It was a fun, but exhausting day.

Sunday - Tonight was the Moss Farm Neighborhood Picnic. It was a fun event with lots of our neighbors. We went with Zach, Lauren, and Henry. There were hot dogs and hamburgers to eat, a bounce house, pony rides, a petting zoo, balloon animals, face painting, and more. Maddie rode the pony all by herself. I thought she would be scared, but she did awesome. She also loved the petting zoo. She held a baby chick, pet a cow, fed a goat and a llama, pet a bunny, a guinea pig, a baby pig, and a duck. She really didn't want to leave. She also got up the courage to get into the bounce house. They did make all the big kids get out so it was just the little ones for a few minutes. Maddie and Henry had a blast until one of the little girls bounced right on Maddie's chest. Maddie and Henry were rolling around and the little girl was jumping really high and came right down on Maddie. That ended the bounce house for us, but we headed off for a popsicle and then to the jungle gym. Maddie followed Henry up the turning slide and actually slid down it. It was really slow, so she loved it and slid down about a hundred times over the next half hour. Neither of the kiddos wanted to leave, saying "one more time, one more time." It was a nice event and there was a great turnout.
