Photography Club Outing #2 - Waxahachie

Today Miriam, Juan and I went to Waxahachie for our second installment of our photography club. Waxahachie has an awesome scrapbook store that Miriam wanted to check out. We ate lunch at the 1879 Chisholm Grill Restaurant, a great little home cooking place on the square. While Miriam and I were in the scrapbook store, Juan toured around the square taking photos. Miriam and I joined up with him after our shopping jont and we laughed as we took headshots of each other.  Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day:

03.07.10 Fearing's Anniversary Dinner

Juan and I went to Fearings for dinner to celebrate our 1st Anniversary early. My brother in law is a soliemene there and has recently taken a job at another restaurant in town. He has been at Fearings for about 2-1/2 years and we have not found time or an excuse to go. Thursday is his last day, so we made reservations for this evening. IT WAS FABULOUS!!!! Jeff paired the amazing food with even more amazing wine. Juan and I both thought it was the best meal of our lives. We had an absolute blast and regret strongly that we have not partaken of this restaurant before tonight. It was PERFECT for our 1st Anniversary Dinner. THANKS JEFF!!!!! YOU ROCK!

03.06.10 Alfonso's 75th Birthday

This evening we went to a mexican restaurant in Arlington to celebrate Juan's father's 75th Birthday with about 30 family and friends. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALFONSO!

Jakob Videos at Japanese Gardens

Jakob was so cute at the Japanese Gardens last weekend.  I thought if we took a blanket out to the grassy knoll Jakob would take a nap.....NOT.....it was quickly obvious that he was too interested in everything else going on.  Check out the video link to see his cuteness.  To Nap or not to Nap?   

Jakob has learned to pick up everything he finds on the floor or ground and give it to an adult.  He especially loves doing this with leaves, sticks, acorns, rocks, etc.  Juan shot a short video of this.  Jakob and the Gardens

In this last video, Tio Juan sets Jakob on top of the tree stump.  Although not really a tall stump, Jakob is smart enough to know he can't just step off of it.  Of course I wanted to pick him up right away, but Juan was letting Jakob work out his problem solving skills.... right Juan?  It is funny and afterwards he did go right back to the stump.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvDJRffcoQM 

03.05.10 Stamp Pad Holder

One thing I love in my scrapbook room is my stamp pad holder.  This is an old wooden cassette holder that I spray painted white. My Close To My Heart stamp pads fit perfectly in the slots.  I love seeing the rainbow of colors and having a quick reference of all the colors available.  I stole this idea from my friend Angie....thanks Angie!

03.04.10 Scrapbook Junkie

I had to travel to Houston today for work. It was a long day with a 7am flight out and a return flight at 6:30pm. Our only break from all day meetings was at lunch. The 3 architects, myself and a co-worker all went to a great little seafood/cajun place.  On the way back to the facility after lunch, someone commented about the "Scrapbook Junkie".  Sure enough, there was a scrapbook store in the shopping center!  Since everyone knew what an addict I am, the architect said he would give me 10 minutes to check it out.  I ran in, and out, in 10 minutes flat and my day was suddenly much brighter.  Here is all the good stuff I grabbed on my quick visit.

03.03.10 What I Love Most...

What I love most about our house is my scrapbook loft!  It is an awesome space with lots of natural light and open to the living space below.  It's my fairy tale scrapbook/creative world and I love being up there.  Most of the organization system is Elfa from the Container Store although there is a hodgepodge of miscellaneous dividers and tubs as well.  The white and red boxes are from IKEA.

03.02.10 Creative Memories

I am a dedicated fan of Creative Memories albums and pages.  I started with these albums about 14 years ago and loved the quality; I've been hooked ever since.  I use all sorts of embellishments, paper, ribbon, etc. but I am steadfast with the use of CM albums.  Now I use them because I want all of my albums to look the same and coordinated on the shelf....silly I know... but that's me.  I have a unique idea for my Project Life Album using CM pages and I am dying to get started.  I ordered pages from my friend Shannon, but she lives in Wichita and we are waiting until we see each other next weekend to save on the shipping costs. Well last weekend I gave in and decided I couldn't wait.  I looked up the nearest CM consultant online and scheduled to pick up a set of natural true 12x12 pages today.  Surprisingly enough, she also happened to have 2 sets of the old style pages that I desperately need as well.  I am all set and ready to complete my first Project Life Week pages.  Check back soon to see the finished product!

03.01.10 Dinner with the Winfreys

Juan and I had dinner tonight with our good friends David and Siobhan Winfrey. We went to Houston's in Addison. It had been way too long since we had seen them and it was great to catch up with them.

02.28.10 Boy in a Trunk

Yes, this is my nephew, Jakob, sitting in the trunk of my car. We pulled out his stroller while at the Japanese Gardens in Fort Worth today and Juan set him in the open trunk for a second in order to get the stoller open. Jakob decided that he love the trunk and wanted to spend the day playing in it. Boys are too funny!  More photos from our outing below.
