Project Life - Week 14

Welcome to Project Life 2018! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to 6 year old Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins.

I missed posting most of last year and am determined to do better this year!

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week) -

Wednesday - Maddie and Daddy planted our 2nd garden while I was at the scrapbook retreat. They planted potatoes, garlic, onions, and asparagus. We are waiting for our new patio furniture to arrive; we'll be glad to be rid of our old iron set.

Friday - Juan introduced Maddie to the video game Rachet and Clank. I was not happy with him, but she was thrilled to finally get to play it.

Saturday - Today was the Home Depot Kids Workshop. They made a birdhouse. Maddie loves these workshops and is pretty good with a hammer and screwdriver. The Glitter Girls played the Pink Pathers today on the soccer field. It was snowing and freezing! We lost 1-4, we had quite a few girls not show up.

Sunday - Today Maddie and I did her Kiwi Crate on coins. There was an experiment to see which item cleaned pennies better: ketchup, water, lemon juice, vinegar or alcohol. Maddie had to predict which she thought would clean the best and which would clean the least. She thought the water would clean it best and learned it actually cleaned it the worst. Daddy cooked us a healthy dinner tonight - tilapia, asparagus, rice, and blood orange.

Monday - Adam brought Maddie a present this evening. It wasn't for anything special, he just bought her something - a real drum set! She was soooo excited. He helped her set it up and showed her how to play it. He's such a good big brother and she loves him so much!

Saturday - Today was the Summer Glen Easter Egg Hunt hosted by Bob and Susie O'Neal. The kids on our block love this annual event. There were hundreds of plastic eggs hidden all over our block. Parents stood in the street to help watch the kids and block the cars. Maddie was super excited and wanted to wear her "tennis shoes" with her dress so she could run faster. There were 14 kids running all over hunting for eggs. Sooo adorable!

Sunday - Easter Sunday! Maddie was very excited to go down and see what the Easter Bunny brought. She had 6 rolls of scotch tape and 3 containers of gum. She was so excited and thankful for everything she received. There were a coupe of movies, a puzzle and 3 My Little Pony Stack ems. She was also excited to play with the badminton raquets. After church we went to Benihana's for lunch. This afternoon Maddie invited Zoe and Chase over to play. They had a great time chasing each other to smash Cascarones over each others head. There was confetti everywhere! He is risen!

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week) -

Monday - I flew to Nashville today for HCA Spring Training. The weather was HORRIBLE and there was a scary amount of turbulence. When we went to land, we must have overshot as they immediately took back off and banked left - HARD. It was not a fun flight.

Tuesday - My co-workers Nathan and Amit were sporting their "business" attire. We took votes on who was more in style!

Thursday - Today is our 9 YEAR ANNIVERSARY! We went to Bugatti's to celebrate and it was delicious. Bugatti's is where we had our Rehearsal Dinner. They remembered Juan by name from Valentine's day and welcomed us. 9 Years is pottery, Juan bought me this cool vase. I love him as much today as I did on the day we wed! I'm so thankful I get to share my life with him. He annoys me often, but I can't image my days without him! I love you so much Juan!

Saturday - We played the Sparklecats and won 5-4! It was SOOO hot that the girls were having trouble running with the ball. The Sparklecats scored in our goal and then we scored in their goal. We didn't have a ref, no one showed up - so Juan had to ref. It was a very difficult first game. Maddie had spurts of playing well, especially the time or two that she got aggressive with the ball.

Sunday - We planted our garden today. We bought the plants yesterday and this morning Juan had the garden all cleaned out and the holes dug for the plants. Maddie did almost all of the planting, and did a great job! Our backyard is beginning to come together for the season.
