Walk Away - New Layout

I am frantically packing and organizing my scrappy supplies as little miss and I are venturing to the wide open spaces of Oklahoma this weekend to join my other scrappy friends for a 3 day scrapping extravaganza! Hopefully little miss is going to play with little sass as they are only 2 months apart. This will be our first 'getaway' since our trip to Aruba last summer. This evening I took a quick break from organizing to complete this layout of little miss walking our neighborhood.  She is absolutely obsessed with being outside. These photos were taken this past February when it was still cool outside. Of course the cold doesn't stop little miss. When we say, "it's too cold outside" she simply brings us her coat and says, "coat." Who could resist that?

I created this layout to play along with Paper Issues link up for "nature walk". These photos are the epitome of nature walk for little miss.

I used a sketch from Let's Get Sketchy - July Week 3.  Here is the sketch, which I stayed very true to:

I also played along with Kristi B's - Scrappy Friends July challenge to use clocks or calendars.  I used paper from webster's pages that had clocks all along the left side of the paper for my layout.

For my title, I played along with Colorful Creations - July Song challenge. This challenge was to use words from "Caught Up in You" by 38 Special. I used the title "walk away" from lyrics in the song.

Finally, I played along with Two Peas CHA Summer '13 - challenge #4 to use four elements from nature.  I used a flower, leaves (the two stick pins), a frog sticker, and a ladybug 3D sticker as my elements.

Happiness - You Are My Bucket List - New Layout

Howdy scrappy friends! I finished a layout last night of DD at 2 months in her adorable little bunny ears hat.  

I played along with CSI - case file #81. Here is how I solved this case:  I used all 5 colors in the scheme. The pale chartreuse color was used in the two little stickers "oh look" and the pointer on the large photo on the left. The evidence used was a fleur-de-lys chipboard on the bucket list title upper right corner, there is a bird on the background paper near the same bucket list title in the upper right, I used glossy accents (the 3D chipboard stickers round scallop flowers on the left page), and even the textured paper for the base card stock on the right.  For the testimony I used the 6-word memoir: "Happiness - You are my Bucket List". 

For the left side of my layout I used the sketch and challenge #3 from Scrap Around the World. Here is the left side:

This challenge is to use the following sketch and mood board. For example: on this board you may be inspired by the colours (either all of them or just one, two or more) but you do not have to use any colours on the board if you don't want to. Other aspects of the mood board that could inspire you are, for example, the pleating/draping of the curtains, the soft organza type fabric, the chandelier, flower clusters, wood (from the table) the green from the grass, the misty background in the first image that could prompt the use of vellum or baking paper, hearts, ribbon, rafia, wreath elements, keys, clear elements, 'door-knob' type embellishments, corsets, dress-forms, floral vines, moulded resin embellishments and frames.

First, I rotated the sketch. I was inspired by the natural colors, floral groupings, keys in the chipboard stickers, and washi tape to replicate the glass/clear/vellum appearance.  

For the right hand side of my layout I used the sketch from the July Sketches with A Twist.  The twist was to use only cardstock as your base.  Here is the right side and the sketch:

I used stickers in lieu of the tags and lots of washi tape. My background is a solid grey/brown cardstock.

Enjoy - New Layout

The weekend is almost upon us, again! Where do the days go? I finished a layout this evening for a couple of challenged and had to photograph inside with flash, so the colors aren't great.  this is DD in wonder at the twinkling lights at Christmas.

I used the sketch for Scrap Your Story Challenge #20:  

I selected this sketch to play along with Memorable Seasons - July Challenge #3 Technique.  This challenge is to use white space.  I followed quite a few recommendations on the challenge as white space if VERY difficult for me. My pages are always full from edge to edge. I used spray ink in the white space, clustered everything along the diagonal and cut my photos quite a bit so there would be space for white space.

I also played along with the Southern Girls Challenge - No Spooling. For this challenge you are not to use any ribbon, twine or cotton on your project, basically anything that comes on a spool. This was pretty difficult for me as I almost always use ribbon or twin of some form. I dug out the border strips, border punches and used faux stitching in lieu of ribbon.

The title originated from the word challenge over at Sunny Side Up Creations. The word to use was enjoy.

Finally, I played along with Sketches 4 All - July Mixed Alpha challenge.  I used the word Joy from LYB chipboard words pack and added EN from a pack of Honey Thickers for my title "Enjoy".

Sweet Summer Memories - New Layout

Hi my scrappy wet friends, well at least those in Dallas. It is still raining here, but I am definitely NOT complaining. It's been a lovely drizzle for two days and nights and the grass and garden are soaking it in. I finished another layout yesterday from my Embellish It Club kit.

I played along with Colorful Creations - Favorite Things July challenge.  This challenge was also to create a Favorite summer time activity layout, but you also need to use more than 2 photos, flowers, and bright, fun, cheery colors.  I used 7 photos, flowers in the title that I stickled, and lots of bright cheery colors.  

I also played along with Sketches 4 All - July Design Team challenge - to create a summer time layout. What's more summer than playing in the pool on a hot summer's day?

July Fourth America - New Layout

Happy Sunday! It looks to be a cooler, rainy day today. The grass and garden are loving the rain. I finished this layout this morning from the 4th of July - THIS YEAR! Wow, what am I think scrapping something current? Anyways, this is a layout using my July Kit Club from Embellishkits.com. I wanted to do a layout to play along with all of the July challenges for red, white, and blue layouts and this worked perfect.

I played along with Frosted Designs - Fabulous Friday to use twine, ribbon and washi (use at least 2). I used two different rick rack ribbon and twine tied around the star at the top left.  

I also played along with S.W.A.T. - July Red, white and blue challenge.  

Along with same colors for the Scrap Our Stash - July challenge, you are to use at least 3 pre-made stars and craft is the only other color paper you can use.  I used three pre-made chipboard stars and inked around the edge. This challenge runs through July 29th, so there is still time to play along!

One more challenge I played along with was Sketches 4 All - Cheryl's Holiday Challenge - show your colors. Our colors in the US are red, white and blue.  

Finally, I played along with Colorful Creations - Anything Goes July challenge.  This challenge is to use red, white, blue and a second challenge is to use stars and stipes.  I think I hit this challenge on the head, LOL!

2 Month Well Baby - New Layout

We spent a wonderful day with friends swimming and playing. I am beat, but Maddie is still going strong....nap why don't you?  :)  I finished this layout early this morning before we left.  It is a simple layout, but one I wanted to document  - her 2 month Well baby doctor's visit.

For the left side I used a sketch from My Scraps & More - #36. I tweaked the sketch a bit to work with my photos and shifted the photos to the left.  

For the right side I used a sketch from Let's Capture Our Memories - Sketch #27.  I also played along with The Paper Girls Challenge #35 to use at least three journaling cards.  I used three along the top with ribbon and brads.

Madalynne's Darling Room - New Layout

I finally completed a layout of Maddie's room.  This is actually her room at our old house when she was born, but we copied it when we moved into our new home, so I think it counts.  I wanted to get all of the little touches documented. I also finished Maddie's first 60 days - it only took 3 albums! At this rate I will NEVER be caught up. I think I need to be a bit more choosy with which photos to scrap, LOL.

For this layout I played along with Berry 71 Bleu July challenge - Anything goes.  I also played along with Colorful Creations E Challenge for July - to use butterflies and flowers.

Project Life - Week 26

Welcome to Project Life 2013! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to 1 year old Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins who has put together a wonderful kit to make this challenge easier.

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week):

This week Maddie started putting together 2-3 words in sentences. She says "ready eat", "two hands", "no cry monkey" and many more.  

Thursday - Today was the end to Maddie's second week of Mommy and Me swim lessons. She did great again this week and can swim to me underwater for 3 seconds. She still loves the water and we are so glad that we did this with her.  Monday I wasn't feeling good, so Daddy took Maddie to the class in my place. You can see the video of her swimming here.

Friday - Maddie loves walking with Daddy in the neighborhood. She is quite independent and loves looking for animals, bugs, butterflies, squirrels, and especially rolly pollies.

Saturday - Maddie has a very short attention span. She loves to draw, color, and paint; but only for about 3 minutes. She likes markers much better than crayons. I think because she doesn't have to push as hard with the markers. What's funny is that she pushes way harder on the markers then she does with crayons.
