LOAD #26 & 27 - Toes in the Sand

Happy early week! Are you ready for Halloween?  We are....Maddie has a little lobster costume that I can't wait to put her in. :)  I am participating in the October LOAD (LayOut A Day) challenge over at Let's Scrap. This is #26 & 27:

Maddie speed crawling across the sand, oblivious to the surf that surrounded her. This layout is for the Let's Scrap Scrap Your Stash #22 Challenge. The challenge was to use:
2 different patterned papers (mine are the sand and the seashell papers)

4 different colors of cardstock (mine are pink, dark pink, white, blue and sand color)
1 piece of chipboard (journaling block)
4 flowers (white near the top)
3 eyelets or brads (2 large heart brads and 2 small white brads)
9 buttons (all along the bottom right)
2 pieces of ribbon (brown ric-rac and pink crocheted)
lotsa bling! (all along the seashell punch at the top and in the four flowers at the top.
Use a Let's Scrap sketch:  (I used sketch 8-31-11)

This challenge was very difficult for me as there were a LOT of requirements. I don't normally use so much stash, but it did make me dig through old stash that I haven't used in forever!

I am also playing along with the Scrap That October DT challenge - to use pink and ribbon. This was easy although I didn't want to overwhelm the photos with too much pink.

Here are a couple of enlarged photos:

Materials Used:  paper - Bazzill, Scrap Your Trip, and Creative Imaginations; border punch - Martha Stewart; bling - Heidi Swapp & Basic Grey; title - Scrap Your Trip; layered stickers - MME Lost & Found; corner punch - Creative Memories; brads - unknown; buttons - unknown; ribbon - unknown; flowers - Prima.

LOAD #24 & 25 - Remember this Moment

Hello! If this is your first time visiting, I am participating in the October LOAD (LayOut A Day) over at Let's Scrap.  If you've visited before, welcome back! This is #24 & 25 for the Load challenge. I completed and additional 27 digital layouts for my DD 1st birthday party, so I am pleased with my progress....especially after a 6 month hiatus. This is another layout from our recent Aruba trip. This was on our last night and I was in love with this amazing tree outside our hotel.

I used an older sketch from Pamela over at Pamela's World of Scrap, sketch #208b. She has started a monthly sketch challenge and once you've used this months sketch there is a bonus to use any of her older sketches. This one was perfect for my tree layout (It's the first one)!

I also played along with Lori at Apron Strings and her Croptober #11 challenge is a picture inspiration:

This photo immediately inspired me to drag out my tree photos from Aruba. I also love the vertical fence in the background and added vertical striped paper to the bottom of my layout.  I even used similar colors, the gray in the house behind, neutrals, and a hint of green. Great inspiration!

Here are a couple of enlarged photos:

Materials Used:  Paper - SEI and Bazzill; cricut - Stretch Your Imagination; transparency journal - Basic Grey; title - KI Memories (Scribbles Glitter Border), JoAnn Craft Essentials; ribbon -unknown.

I hope you are having a fabulous weekend.  We took DD to the State Fair of Texas today. She had quite the grand time. I will post pictures soon. Thanks for visiting!

LOAD #22 & 23 - Summer Escape

Happy Friday! I'm soooo glad the weekend is here. I am participating in the October LOAD (LayOut A Day) over at Let's Scrap. This is #22 and 23, another layout from Aruba. This was the first stop on our island bus tour - the California Lighthouse.

I used a great sketch from Pamela's World of Scrap. She has started up a monthly sketch challenge with amazing prizes. The best part, she is providing a card sketch, a single 12x12 sketch, and a double 12x12 sketch! I am a big double page layout girl, so I am very excited.

I am also playing along with Scrapbook Challenges – October Wildcat Challengetrying something new or trying something that you haven't done for a while. I am sorry to say that I have a cricut expression and over 100 cartridges and I rarely use it.  When I do, it is almost always for fonts. I never use all of the great layered images. So I forced myself to find something for this layout that I could cut with my expression and use layering.  I found this great lighthouse on the "Life's A Beach" cartridge.

There's still time to play along with all of these challenges!

Here are a couple of detailed pictures:

Materials Used:  paper - Bazzill, My Mind's Eye and Quick Quotes; journaling tags - Unknown; rub-ons - Bohemia & Making Memories; lighthouse - Cricut "Life's A Beach"; paper clip - Basic Grey; bling - CTMH.

Hope you are having an amazing fall and have a fun scrappy weekend ahead!

Thanks for visiting!

LOAD 20 & 21 - Splash

Happy Hump day! I was up at 3:30am this morning for an early flight so I didn't get to post this layout last night. I am participating in the LOAD (LayOut A Day) challenge over at Let's Scrap and getting a ton of layouts completed for our Aruba trip. Here is another of DD and DH in the ocean as the surf spashes over them.

I played along with the Frosted Designs - Fabulous Friday challenge - WILD. Not only are my pictures about the wild surf in the ocean, but I tried to layer coral cut from my cricut (Life's A Beach) in different wild patterns and mix up the colors I used.  I'm not normally one for a multitude of bight colors, but I thought this layout deserved a bit of "splash".

For the left side of the layout I used a sketch from Grand Diva's Creative Corner - October Challenge.  Here is her fabulous sketch:
Obviously the flower motif didn't work for my beach photos, so I used the cut coral and added pearls.

The right side of my layout is based on this great sketch from Let's Get Sketchy - October week 3.

I had too many photos, so I used the color block in the upper left hand for a 4th photo.

Here are a couple of close up pics:

Materials Used:  paper - Scrap Your Trip; CTMH, Bazzill, unknown scraps; splash title - Scrap Your Trip; journaling transparancy - LYB; arrow - Quickutz; coral - Cricut Life's A Beach; pearls - CTMH; border strip - K&Company; wave - Queen&Co.

Thanks for visiting. Join in the challenges, you won't be sorry!

LOAD #18 & 19 - Beach Memories

Happy Saturday! If you haven't stopped by for awhile, I am participating in the LOAD (LayOut A Day) Challenge for October over at Let's Scrap.  This is #18 & 19! Another layout of our mini vaca to Aruba. This is the first time that DH took Maddie into the ocean. I just love these photos of the two of them together!

I used Let's Scrap Sketch 10-10-12, although most of the inspiration was taken from fellow Let's Scrapper Roulien Stahnke. Check out her amazing take on this sketch here:

I am also participating in the Scrapbook Challenges - October Journaling Challenge.  The challenge is to add hand writing to your layout or stamping. I used hand writing on both the journaling tag and the date tag.

Here are a couple of close-up pictures:

Materials Used: paper - BoBunny Gabrielle, CTMH, and Moxxie (The Tropics); cricut - Art Philosophy & Life's A Beach; pearls - unknown; ribbon - unknown; ink - CTMH grey wool; buttons - CTMH; stickers - MME Stella Rose; twine - unknown; rub-ons - TLC.

Thanks for visiting me!

Here is my layout:

Here is the sketch I used:

Here are a couple of close-up pictures:

Project Life - Week 40

Welcome to Project Life 2012! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to new baby Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins who has put together a wonderful kit to make this challenge easier.

I am using the digital Cobalt kit, find it at http://www.beckyhiggins.com/blog/2011/10/new-product-has-arrived/ This digital version uses Shutterfly and is SUPER easy to use! See my completed pages for 2012 at http://scraplifterdesigns.blogspot.com/p/project-life-layouts.html

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week):

Sunday - The washer is still broken, so after church Maddie and I went to Nana's to do laundry. Maddie had fun with Nana. She just loves those peek-a-boo books!

Monday - Maddie trying on Daddy's hat.

Tuesday - Daddy loves to make Maddie laugh and Maddie loves to be tickled. I just love watching the two of them together and hearing her little baby laugh!

Wednesday - Today was a busy day. First I was published! Not for scrapping, but for an article I co-authored for an electrical engineering magazine on understanding diesel emission changes and how they relate to specifying generators. It took us months to write and get published, so it was quite an accomplishment with my co-author Danna Jensen!  Also today, Juan took Maddie to the Nasher Sculpture Garden. She liked the sculptures although she wanted to climb them, LOL! made macarroni and cheese for the first time tonight for Maddie. She has had M&C at restaurants, but never the Kraft kind from the box. We gave her chicken and veggies first and then the M&C. As I predicted, she inhaled it and would have ate as much as I put I on her plate. She ate an entire little baby bowl full. It was definitely a hit. Finally, I cut almost 600 circles for our ccrd Canstruction team tonight. I took about 4 hours even with my cricut!

Thursday - Maddie is about to outgrow her activities chair. Right now, she plays Peek-A-Boo  around it and under it more than she plays in it. She doesn't like to sit in it at all, but will sometimes play with it from the outside.

Friday -  Maddie loves technology including TV remotes, laptops, keyboards, mouse, cameras, etc. and the IPAD is no exception. Juan has been working with her on the memory game app and she is picking it up so quick. In the last couple of weeks she has learned to touch with one finger in lieu of her whole hand and she can conquer the 8 card memory game all by herself. She actually remebers where she sees the animals and can return to them. I was a bit shocked when I saw her play. I told Juan we need to get out the real card version and have her play, although she is still putting EVERYTHING in her mouth and eating.
Saturday - Maddie loves music and loves dancing. She was playing music on her little music stand-up toy and dancing as fast as her little body would bouce, too cute!

Thanks for visiting this week!

Project Life - Week 39

Welcome to Project Life 2012! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay a while. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to new baby Maddie. And now my pictures of the week:

Monday - We had Maddie's smash cake photo shoot this evening. It went fairly well. I decorated the cake myself, so it is defiitely not perfect. She is really not to into cake, but she did like the balloons!

Friday - Maddie loves our front windows and climbing onto the window seal to peer out.

Saturday - Our washer is broken and Juan tried to fix it today with no avail. It is not draining the water. He went and got a new motor and installed it, but still no draining.  Maddie is into EVERYTHING right now. She loves to pull down my ribbons, no matter how high I hang them.

Thanks for visiting!
