Project Life Tuesday - Week 40

Welcome to Project Life Tuesday 2011! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay awhile. I'm Jessica and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins who has put together a wonderful kit to make this challenge easier.

Don't worry, I'm not leaving traditional scrapbooking behind. This just gives me the opportunity to focus my scrapbooking on trips and things that are important to me right now and not get all bogged down with every birthday, dinner, and holiday that comes along.

Each Tuesday, I will post my pictures/journaling from the previous week. Project Life Tuesday was created by Jessica Turner over at The Mom Creative and she hosts a linky for readers to link up their pictures. So if you want to join in or want to see others POTW, just click the Project Lift button at the top of this post.

And finally, my POTW:

Saturday - We gave Madalynne her first bath today. It was a disaster! The PUJ tub didn't hold water so she was immediately freezing and screamed the entire time. I was trying to get a photo of her first bath but this was all we got and the camera dropped on the floor in all the chaos, so Daddy was really not happy and I'm sure that she sensed his frustration.

Sunday - Maddie had a lot of visitors this week. Miriam, Danna, and Abby all came to visit on different days this week and got to hold Maddie.

Monday - Look at this face. I spend a lot of time looking at her while she sleeps right now.

Tuesday - Daddy and Madalynne doing tummy time, which she doesn't like at all.  My favorite part was when Juan told Maddie that he could out-do her and proceeded to lie on his tummy and mock her. She was not impressed.

Wednesday - I had Madalynne do tummy time in her crib this morning and she did great. Then I put her on the floor on her activity mat for the first time and she was perfectly content to watch me and look out the window for over an hour.

Thursday - We used the stroller for the first time today. Juan and I took Maddie on a walk around the block at lunch. It was wonderful just to get outside and Maddie loved it, well she slept soundly through it.

Friday - We took Maddie on her first outing today to the Arboretum. We managed to take a few "family" photos together of the three of us.

Thanks for visiting me this week! I hope you enjoyed the baby update.

And finally, my POTW:

Saturday - I love this photo of Juan and Madalynne, they are so precious.

Sunday - We made Maddie's footprints today for her monthly frame, we received her social security card, and we had a slight incident with her belly button...Juan was kissing her tummy after he changed her diaper, as he always does, and his necklace got caught on her belly button tag and pulled it off completely. She definitely cried, but there really wasn't any blood. He felt TERRIBLE about it, but we called the pediatrician and the nurse told us not to worry. It was a busy day!

Monday - Just to make sure we insert a piece of real life... she does quite a bit of this everyday as well. She tends to calm quickly, but she gets upset just as quickly. Usually it's when she is hungry or wet or thinks she is hungry.

Tuesday - Daddy loves to hold Madalynne and just stare at her.  Usually he is telling her some random story or mimicing what he thinks she is thinking at the moment, mostly from a comedic standpoint.

Wednesday - Mom came over today to help me with Madalynne. We spent most of the day, between all the feedings and changings, setting up mini photoshoots. Mom made all sorts of cute little hair bands, skirts and misc. props.

Thursday - Today Madalynne is two weeks old. We bought her this stuffed animal to take monthly photos next to. She obviously can't sit up yet, hence the prone position.

Friday - I finally got Juan to take some photos of Maddie and I that I like. He edited this one for me and I really like how it turned out.

Thanks for visiting me again this week!  If any of you mothers out there have advice for a new mommy who is very sleep deprived, I'd love to hear it!

And finally, my POTW:

Saturday - We brought Madalynne home today from the hospital, this is the first photo of her in her car seat. We hadn't been home for more than an hour went I went into the living room to find Juan and Maddie apparently watching a Barcelona soccer game. When I asked Juan what he was doing, he responded that Maddie told him she wanted to watch it. We are currently supplementing her feeding with formula as I am still having some issues in the milk department.

Sunday - Juan is absolutely amazing with Madalynne.  I went into her room today to find her daddy reading her a book. I swear she is enthralled with his voice and just watches him intently, even though she can't focus on him at this point. They both make my heart hurt I love them so much!

Monday - Today we went to a Lactation Consultant and finally got Madalynne to latch using a nipple shield. The photo is a bit racey, so I am not posting it here; but it was the sweetest moment of my life. She nursed for 30 minutes and using an SNS she drank 47mL of formula and 28mL of breast milk simply amazing as I have not been able to pump more then 3-5mL at a time.

Tuesday - Ok, I know a five day old newborn can't smile and it is just reflex or gas; but how darned cute is she?

Wednesday - We are giving Maddie a sponge bath every three days and washing her hair.  This is the second time we've done this and she HATES the sponge bath, but LOVES the hair washing part. The nursery nurse told us it was because the warm water on their head is familiar to them from the womb.

Thursday - I am getting nothing crafty done, but I am determined to at least get some good photos. Today I layed her on the boppy to get a picture of this adorable hat! LOVE how this one turned out.

Friday - I saw this pose somewhere on line and decided I needed a similar shot of Daddy holding Maddie.  She is so little right now!

Thanks for visiting me this week. If you are sick of all the newborn photos, sorry; but it is probably going to be like that for awhile.  :)

Project Life Tuesday - Week 37

And finally, my POTW:

Saturday - I spent the day finishing more thank you cards for all the wonderful baby gifts we have received.  I'm pretty sure I am going to need to make more. We have been very blessed by our wonderful friends and family!

Sunday - My hubby naps more than anyone I know....but what cracks me up is that he is constantly stealing my body pillow for his naps. He loves it and probably uses it more than I do!

Monday - This humidifier has become a life saver over the course of my pregnancy. With my allergies and aesthma, I have become increasing more conjested and using the humidifier nightly seems to help.

Tuesday - We broke the Dallas, Tx record today for most days over 100 degrees at 70 days today. The previous record was set back in 1980 at 69 days.  Although 1980 still holds the record for most days over 105 degrees, this year is officially the hottest summer on record....oh what a great time to be 9 months pregnant!

Wednesday - Today I am officially 36 weeks pregnant! Our baby is gaining about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy hair that covered her body, as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Next week, our baby will be considered full-term. She's already in a head-down position. Last night I had tremendous pain up in my ribs. It continued for about three hours. I've heard of the baby sticking her little foot in your ribs, so maybe that's all it was. Weight 252.0 lbs and I have gained 34 lbs over the course of this pregnancy. We still do not have a bag packed for the hospital and her room is not complete, nor do we have a carseat....so much to do still.

Thursday - SURPRISE!!! Madalynne Grace decided to come a little early, almost 4 weeks early. I went in to the ER last night at 1:15am with the same rib pains I had the night before. We definitely did not intend to have a baby, nor did we even take a bag. My pain was from PIH (pregnancy induced hypertension) and it was severe enough that both my OBGYN and my Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor agreed we needed to induce. I was put on Magnesium as they induced, which was miserable, and everyone assumed I would need a C-section.  I ended up not needing the C-section, although it was a long day. I was in labor for about 8 hours and Madalynne arrived at 5:03pm, 5lbs-12oz, and was 18" long.  She did marvelous and didn't even need oxygen.  I on the other hand still had high blood pressure and high liver enzymes and had to stay on the magnesium for another 24 hours after delivery.

Friday - Maddie is doing great, although my day was a bit miserable as I was still on magnesium all day. I haven't ate since 8pm Wednesday evening and I am still not even allowed out of bed.  This evening they finally stopped the magnesium at 3:15pm and I was finally allowed to shower! Hopefully I will feel more like myself very quickly.

Thanks so much for visiting this week! It's been a crazy one.

Maddie at Two Weeks

Maddie turned two weeks old this past Thursday.  We found her an elephant stuffed animal to take photos with each month.  She is obviously not sitting up yet, so she is more laying on Mr. Elephant in these photos and SOOOO small.

Me and Maddie!

I finally managed to get some photos of Madalynne and I together that I like! This is her at two weeks old.

Here are a couple of my favorite pictures from Maddie's second week!

Madalynne - 1st Week Photo Favorites

I haven't managed to get any crafting done, but I did manage a few photos of Madalynne.  We love her to pieces.
