Petrified Forest - Random Layout Complete

This layout I created from a page kit that I got at the convention from Embellish It!.  I don't use very many page kits, but once in a while they are great when your creative juices just aren't flowing.  They also work great for photos you need to scrap, but just really don't want to.  LOL!  Therefore, it was perfect for our stop at the Petrified Forest while on our trip to Sonoma.  Juan had never seen anything petrified, which was the main reason that we stopped. Neither of us were impressed, but it was ok.  I still wanted to document it for our album.

Let's Scrap 2-2-11 Sketch & New Layout

Even though I've already used the left side of this week's sketch, I decided it would work perfect with my Cafe Lahaye photos from Sonoma.  This restraurant served what was probably the best meal I've ever eaten in my life!!! It was amazing.

PageMaps & Stuck On U Sketches - Completed Layout

Happy Friday Friends!  I hope everyone is staying warm.  We got 6" of snow in Dallas, definitely a record.  The city shut down.  I combined a couple of sketches, one from PageMaps and one from Stuck On U sketches for this layout I finished this evening.

Grape Vines LO

Here is a simple layout I did this evening.  It wasn't for anything, just a regular layout.  Wow, I don't think I've done that for weeks.  LOL!  It is of Juan and I playing in the grape vines in Sonoma.

The photo on the right is actually three photos of the same picture: a 4x6, a 5x7, and an x10.  I used a laser design page from Dillon's Laser Designs.  Other materials used: stickles, stamp - 7gypsies, rub-ons - Making Memories, ribbon and cardstock - unknown.

ALL COMPLETED!!!! Let's Scrap - Resolution #10 LO Completed

YES!!!!!  I finally completed my last resolution today for the month long blog hop over at Let's Scrap!  There were 15 resolutions total and I made layouts for everyone of them.  Whew....but wow, I completed 44 layouts in the month of January....a personal record for me! 

My last resolution was Megan's resolution #10 - Trash to treasure Challenge. Use a leftover item from everyday life (non scrapbooking supply) and a Let's Scrap sketch to make a one or two page layout.

I used multiple "trash" items on this page.  First, the label from a bottle of wine we tasted at Benziger's, ribbon I saved from a present that Juan wrapped for me this past Christmas, twine I saved from something long ago, and a beverage doily.  I would like to be able to say it was a doily I saved from our wine tastings, but that would not be true.  :) 

I used Let's Scrap sketch 5-12-10 for my layout:

This creation was very different for me.  I can't really put my finger on it, but it does not seem like my usual style.  I mixed a lot of stuff on this one.

Project Life Tuesday - Week 4

Welcome to Project Life Tuesday 2011! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay awhile. I'm Jessica and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins who has put together a wonderful kit to make this challenge easier.

Don't worry, I'm not leaving traditional scrapbooking behind. This just gives me the opportunity to focus my scrapbooking on trips and things that are important to me right now and not get all bogged down with every birthday, dinner, and holiday that comes along.


Each Tuesday, I will post my pictures/journaling from the previous week. Saturday - I've been around a lot of babies lately. Today I visited my friend Danna in her new house, her adorable little girl, and this precious little boy, Ryan. He is about 4 months old and has the bluest eyes. Isn't he a cutie?

Sunday - I've been skypebooking with my friend, Shannon, a lot lately!  Skypebooking is scrapbooking long distance with friends via skype.  It lets us chat, give opinions on our pages, and almost feels like they are in the room with you.  Shannon is my friend from Wichita, and I have not seen her in FOREVER!

Monday - We finally hung Juan's grandfather clock this weekend. We found it when I purged the house and Juan said it was broken; but was only missing the key to wind it.  He found the key and now we have a great clock that chimes beautifully in our spare bedroom.

Tuesday - I won an RAK from Sookie at Totally Doodles for the Scrapbook Challenges blog hop.  It arrived today and look at all my yum-yum goodies!  Thanks so much Sookie!!!!  I can't wait to use my goodies.

Wednesday - Vanessa has been extremely stressed about, my little niece, Ashlyn's upcoming surgery.  I went over to visit and try to take her mind off of it for a while.  It was nice outside, so we decided to take Ashlyn and Jakob to the park.  Jakob surprised us by immediately swinging on the thing above the slide.  Vanessa had never seen him do that before. I think he picked that up from Tio, who showed him that little move last time we were at the park.  Although he didn't do it at the time.

Thursday - Although it is only my second week back at work, I am already on the road travelling.  Today was an easy day trip flight to Austin for an OAC meeting on a little Free Standing ED that is just coming up out of the ground.  Yes, this is what I do all day long.

Friday - Today was Ashlyn's abdominal surgery for an unknown mass the size of a lemon.  Mom and I  met Vanessa, Jeff and Ashlyn at Children's Medical Center in Dallas at 5:50am.  It was very traumatic to see Ashlyn being tortured with needles as they tried, unsuccessfully, to draw blood and get a miniature IV started.  Her surgery started by about 7:30am and they were done by about 9am.  It turned out to be a mass caused by a twisted ovary.  They did have to remove her ovary, but this was really the best case scenario.  They did not have to remove intestines or other organs and she should make a full recovery.  They gave her an epidural to control her pain, yet another needle and tube into her little body.  It took her a couple of hours in recovery and then we stayed with her a couple more hours in her room while her parents grabbed some food.  The Lord heard all of the prayers and answered them.  Thank you to all the thoughts and prayers that were sent out for Ashlyn.  She was released from the hospital the following afternoon.

SC Sketch 237 & New Layout

Hello friends, I am finally feeling better today.  I finished a layout today for based on the sketch #237 over at Scrapbook Challenges.  Here is the sketch:

I'm not very happy with how this layout turned out.  It was a great sketch for lots of photos, but my page is just to simple for me.  I felt like I needed to add more to it, but then it would be too busy.  Anyways, it's done, right?  :)

Let's Scrap - Resolution #8 & #9 LO Complete

Afternoon Friends! Thanks for stopping by. I've been ill all day, with what I hope is food poisoning; but this is my day off so I have been adding finishing touches to another layout inbetween naps and well never mind (TMI)  My layout is about Old Faithful in Calistoga, CA. 


Here is the LS sketch my layout is based on 2-24-10:

The left side of my layout is for Bev's Resolution #8 - Using black and white photos, blue and yellow embellishments and a Let’s Scrap sketch create a layout.  The right side was for Mandy's Resolution #9 - Laughter is the Best Medicine. So your challenge is to scrap something that makes you smile or laugh and make sure to add some journalling so that you can look at this years from now and reminisce what was making you smile or crack up.

This page is about how excited I was to learn the "Old Faithful" was only a couple hour drive to Sonoma.  We started out early to beat the "People".  Imagine our surprise when we arrived that this was just one of a handful of "old faithful's" in the world that erupt at regular intervals and was piddly in comparison to the real thing. They also had fainting goats and llamas so we were confused as to if this was a zoo or a natural phenomonen.  Of course the REAL Old Faithful is in Wyoming, which I really should have known!  I will definitely never live this one down!
