Project Life 2012 Week 4

Welcome to Project Life 2012! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay awhile. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to new baby Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. This was inspired by the fabulous Becky Higgins who has put together a wonderful kit to make this challenge easier.

I am using the digital Cobalt kit, find it at http://www.beckyhiggins.com/blog/2011/10/new-product-has-arrived/ This digital version uses Shutterfly and is SUPER easy to use! I began Project Life in 2010 and while I managed to photograph and journal every day, I have not yet finished the album (in fact, I only completed pages through February). In 2011 I also did a great job with photographing each day, but I still didn’t have anything in the album, so I decided to go the digital route. I completed my entire 2011 album using Becky’s digital Clementine album in the first two weeks of January this year. It was so easy that I am determined to complete 2012 before the New Year rings! 2011 was a big year for me as I was pregnant and had our first baby. I love all the journaling I was able to include. To see a few of my 2011 layouts check out: http://scraplifterdesigns.blogspot.com/2012/01/potd-2011-week-36-37-38-39-40-41-42.html  and http://scraplifterdesigns.blogspot.com/2012/01/potd-week-1-2-3-4-5-48-49-50-51-52-load.html

Don't worry, I'm not leaving traditional scrapbooking behind. This just gives me the opportunity to focus my scrapbooking on new baby, vacations and things that are important to me right now and not get all bogged down with every birthday, dinner, and holiday that comes along.

Each Tuesday, I will post my pictures/journaling from the previous week. Project Life Tuesday was created by Jessica Turner over at The Mom Creative and she hosts a linky for readers to link up their pictures. So if you want to join in or want to see others POTW, just click the Project Lift button at the top of this post.

And finally, my POTW (pictures of the week):

Sunday - Today was the Barcelona vs Real Madrid Copa del Rey quarter finals so Juan put Maddie in her game jersey to watch the game with him. We bought this onsie in Spain when we were on our honeymoon for our nephew and my sister had saved it and gave it to us for Maddie. Juan was very excited. He cracks me up because he doesn't want her watching in TV but soccer is ok for some reason. LOL! The game ended up in a tie 2-2.

Monday - I packed away the rest of Maddie's 3 month and most of her 3-6 month clothes today. I can't believe she has outgrown them already. I organized her closet and moved the 6 month and 6-9 month clothes over. Wow, I just can't get over how fast she is growing up.

Tuesday - Maddie is really trying to hold her own bottle. She can't seem to hold onto by herself, but her hands are always there. I put her down every night around 6:30pm. I rock her and feed her with the lights dimmed and sing Rock-A-Bye Baby, Mommy loves Maddie, and Are You Sleeping. Then I read her "Good night Moon" and lay her in her crib with her sleep sheep on. She is usually awake and usually falls asleep no problem.  Once every couple of weeks we have to repeat the process once or twice, but then she is down for the night and doesn't wake up until 4:30 - 6:00am when Juan gets up and feeds her. We are SOOOO lucky when it comes to night and sleeping. She is just fabulous! Hopefully that doesn't change anytime soon.

Wednesday - Juan was playing with Maddie in her bumbo and then started her dancing. I'm not sure what crazy made up song he was singing, but she was watching him intently. I think she must often wonder if her daddy is "Looney".

Thursday - Maddie is so close to turning over. She sleeps in this position now. The first time she did it last night Juan made me go check because he was afraid that she wasn't breathing beause she was in such an akward position. She was fine.

Friday - Juan and I were at Northpark and wandered into a baby store and couldn't resist buying her a sailor outfit for her 5 month photos. Juan came home and decided that she needed to try on the hat. It's a little big, but hopefully she'll grow into it a bit by then.

I also learned today that my layout was posted on the Scrap Our Stash blog. How cool?

Saturday - Maddie has been in such an awesome mood lately. She LOVES attention and is just happy all the time. Juan can always make her laugh with his silly antics. Today I had him make her laugh and snapped a few adorables of her!

Thanks for visiting.

Us - Frosted Designs Sketch 33 - LOAD

This is #30 and #31 for my LOAD (LayOut A Day)!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!  I completed my goal! I am participating in the LOAD for January over at Let's Scrap. I didn't think there was anyway I would even get close to 31 layouts this month with a new 4-1/2 month old baby....but I did! My hubby helped a lot and my baby has become the perfect baby this month. She goes to sleep at 6:30pm and sleeps until at least 5 or 5:30am so I've been getting in layouts in the evening after she is asleep. I've also been able to scrap quite a bit on the weekends as my hubby is soooo good and really entertains/plays with her a lot. This week was harder as I worked 15 hour days almost all week on top of everything, so I am VERY proud of myself. This was a GREAT challenge and one I've always wanted to try.

Here is my layout:

I used the Frosted Designs - Sketch along Tuesdays Sketch #33 for the left side of my layout and rotated it 90 degrees. Here is the sketch:

I also used Frosted Designs - Fabulous Friday Challenge - Recipe for this week. The recipe was to use 3 Patterned Papers, 2 Buttons, and a 1 word title. I used this challenge also for the left side of my layout.

I also used another challenge that I read on someone's blog or posting, but completely lost it.  It was to mix 3 different manufacture's and 3 different papers.  If anyone knows where this challenge was posted, I would love to know! LOL

The right side was based on a layout on page 96 of the Feb 2012 issue of scrapbooks ets.

Here are some detailed photos:

Materials used: papers - Bo Bunny Welcome Home, MME Apron Dots; tag - Bo Bunny Welcome Home; Rub-ons - Heidi Swapp (NOT impressed with these fuzzy rubons they didn't work at all and I'm going to throw the rest of the pack away!); ribbon - unknown; rick rack - Wrights; buttons - CTMH; journaling block - KI Memories; overlay - De'ja' Views.

Thanks for visiting me!

My Girl Can Cry! - Let's Scrap Sketch 1-25-12 - LOAD

This is layout #28 & 29 for my LOAD (LayOut A Day). I am participating the January LOAD challenge over at Let's Scrap. I am so close to reaching my goal! I think it's going to be a late night.....LOL. I used Let's Scrap sketch 1-25-12 for this layout. This layout is me and Maddie at the Arboretum when she was just 23 days old.  She's almost 4-1/2 months now, so I'm a little behind.

Here is my layout:

Here is the sketch I used:

Here are a few detailed photos:

Materials Used:  paper - DCWV, MME Lost & Found, and unknown; paper tab labels - Basic Grey; title stickers - Thickers Sunny by American Crafts & Pink Paislee Limeade; pot dots - All night Media; embellishments - Making Memories Design Shop - People baby girl; stamps - CTMH Journaling Jots; ink - CTMH black; ribbon - unknown.

Project Life 2012 Week 3

Welcome to Project Life 2012! If you are new to my blog, welcome! I hope you will stay awhile. I'm Jessica, wife to Juan, mommy to new baby Maddie. I am also an electrical engineer by day and I am participating in Project Life by night, a different way to record our lives by taking one photo a day. I love creating scrapbooks with a POTD (Picture of the Day). I think it's a great way to get in all those little life moments that otherwise might not make it into an album. Of course, with a new baby, I know most days are going to be photos of her; but I'm ok with that.

And now to my pictures this week:

Sunday - Maddie is 4 months old today! Wow, where is the time going. I can't believe how big she is getting. She will be bigger than her elephant in just a couple more months.

Monday - Maddie is officially in size 3 diapers. Today was her 4 month well baby exam. She weighed 16.14 lbs (100th percentile, off the charts), 26" long (95th percentile), and 16.5" circumference head (75th percentile). Dr. Hubbard said that she is not teething at this age, all 4 month babies put their hands in their mouths and drool. It is her digestive juices gearing up for solids. She said not to start her on solids until about 5-1/2 months and then cereal and vegtables first. Just a little once a day to get her used to a spoon and the texture in her mouth. She also said 30-35 oz of formula a day is the limit, not to go over 35 but she can have water. She also told us to get out the bouncer that it was time. Maddie got a ton of shots as well. We noticed when we were waiting for the doctor that she had a ton of little red spots on her legs and feet that were not there this morning. Dr. Hubbard said that it could be Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFM) caused by the Coxsachie virus. This is very contagious and typically occurs in toddlers. These bumps get in the mouth and hurt and typically have a fever associated with it; but not everyone has the same symptoms. The bumps are typically at the end of cycle so that may be the only symptom that she has. I came home at noon to take care of Maddie in case she started running a fever. She was lethargic most of the day and slept quite a bit. She felt warm, but I didn't think she was super hot. When Juan came home at 6pm she was asleep in my arms watching Baby Einstein and he immediately said she was burning up and had a fever! I didn't think so at all, but we took her temperature rectally and it was 102.1 degrees! I was motified. How long has she had a fever? We gave her meds but I didn't want to bundle her up in a swaddle, so we put her in a short sleeved onsie and pants. I was sure she would wake up around 10 and we could check her temp again, give her more meds if needed and then swaddle her; but she never woke up. The house was 75 degrees so I though it would be fine. This mrorning I went in to check on hr about 4:30am and found her little arms and hands to be freezing. I felt so bad.

Tuesday - Maddie is feeling the effects of her shots from yesterday. She slept most of the day in Abuelita's arms. She was running a slight fever when I got home, 100.8 degrees so we gave her some Children's Tylenol.

Wednesday - Janet came to meet us girls for lunch so that we could celebrate her birthday. We took her to lunch at Green Papaya's. Danna had to go pick up Ryan as he was having a tooshy issue, so he joined us.

Thursday - Dr. Hubbard told us it was time to put Maddie in the jump-a-roo, so we finally put it together tonight. She is so small in the seat that we had to put a pillow behind her. She didn't really know what to make of it.  She didn't cry, but she really didn't seem excited either.  We only left her in for a few minutes.

Friday - Maddie has really started to laugh out loud and anticipate tickles this week. Juan plays "here comes the bee, here comes the bee, here comes the bee" and then tickles her. When he starts the chant, she immediately begins to smile and kick and then when he actually tickles her she squeals out loud. It is pretty funny to watch and always makes me smile.

Saturday - This week we have also started putting Maddie in front of a lot of mirrors and she is beginning to really pay attention. Sometimes she still gets mad, but more often than not she smiles at the baby in the mirror.
Thanks so much for visiting me this week.

Project Life 2012 Week 2

I'm a little behind in posting my POTD due to the LOAD challenge over at Let's Scrap. I'm going to try to catch up soon!

Here are my photos for the week!

Sunday - Juan took this picture of Maddie and said it was the character from the movie the 5th Element as a baby!

We dropped Maddie off with Nana and headed to church,a movie, and lunch. Nice little break and Maddie had fun with Nana!

Monday - Maria is currently taking care of Maddie during the day while Juan and I are away at work. She arrives at our house around 6am. I've worked it out with ccrd so that I leave at 2:30pm each day. That way I can be home by 3pm, Maria can make it home to Oak Cliff before traffic, and best of all, I have about 3 hours with Maddie each day to play before she goes to bed. Then I work a couple of hours after she goes to bed if I need to catch up. So far, this has worked fabulous. I LOVE having her watched in our house by a loving Grandma. I am never worried about her safety and so far she hasn't even caught a cold!

Tuesday - Maddie seems to always find a way to pull up her shirt. I think she loves having a bare belly. She is almost too big for her bouncer.

Wednesday - I read that this week a play game is to shine a flashlight across the ceiling and let the baby watch it. It said that this was a good game before bed to calm them down. Juan used his I-phone and hung a big pink jewel on a wire and was making all sorts of shapes on the wall like a disco ball.  Maddie was completely enthralled.  He has done this for about 4 nights in a row. The third night he didn't do it because he thought the shadows on the wall might be scaring her, but she kept looking up at the wall and behind her when we were getting her ready for bed as if she was looking for the shadows.

Thursday - Maddie has been fussy the past couple of afternoons, is drooling a LOT and sucking on her hands; but she won't put anything else in her mouth. We have debated if she could be teething already, but I think it is still too early for that. She also doesn't really hold anything unless you put it in her hand. We played for almost an hour today trying to get her to hold and put in her mouth two different teethers, Sophie the Giraffe and her frog. I finally got her to hold them and she put them to her mouth, but couldn't seem to manuver them into her mouth. She sort of just licked them when she could ready them. LOL!

Friday - Juan tried to go get his hair cut this afternoon, but Tu couldn't work him in so he bought a shaver and asked me to do it. WOW, now that is trust; Juan is very particular about his hair.  He said I did a really good job and he was impressed.  (Of course about a week and a half later he went back to Tu, so I'm not sure that he really liked it.)

Saturday - We have really begun to use the bumbo this week. She only will sit in for about 5 minutes at a time, but it is a good position to read her books. I really think she follows the words when I read and she even tries to turn the page.  Look at that focus!
